Reece-san in Japan

Saturday, February 14, 2009. It IS pretty cool. Sapporo is the capital city of the northern-most island of Japan, Hokkaido. To get there from Tokyo without a car you can either fly or take a train. The train goes through a “chunnel” kind of dealie. I think it’s actually the longest underwater tunnel in the world, coming in around 53 miles long! After having a bunch of different meats on a stick and some sake we headed out for Karaoke! Without a clue where to go we started asking around. The izakaya o...

Reece-san in Japan: April 2008

http://reece-san.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 22, 2008. This is just a quick post. I have LOTS to write about at another time. My friend Noelle sent me an email asking about this Japanese drink called Ramune. It's got a funky bottle and closure system involving a marble. So she was all, "you have to try it and tell me if it's all true! Here's an extremely self-conscious "oh no we're such tourists" video. I hope you appreciate it. Saturday, April 12, 2008. Guess who's running behind. again? First I should talk about our new Friday even...

Reece-san in Japan: Second First Week

http://reece-san.blogspot.com/2009/01/second-first-week.html

Friday, January 23, 2009. And what a week it’s been! The bath room (which is actually two rooms because the Japanese-style bath has a door on it) and the toilet room! Complete with bidet and heated seat of course! The apartment has a couple of curious features.  At first I thought I’d been slighted by the management when, after a 14-hour travel day, I crawl into bed only to discover they’ve given me a box spring and no mattress! It turns out next to the train station with a bunch of other bikes isn&#8217...

Reece-san in Japan: March 2008

http://reece-san.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Being let down in Japan is still pretty awesome. I’m sure my good Japan karma is going to run out soon, but I’m going to enjoy the heck out of it while it’s here. My big disappointment last week (3/15/08 - yes, I'm almost a week behind) was the canceled helicopter on my big heli-boarding debut :(. After trying to make small talk for a while I straight out asked if I could tag along with them, maybe try to find some backcountry stuff to play around in. Where does this go? Of cours...

Reece-san in Japan: January 2009

http://reece-san.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 30, 2009. Tenjin Dai (or whatever). After about 4 hours of travel we made it to our destination. The Canyons Lodge is an adventure hostel run by a bunch of Kiwis. All of them are super nice and they provided a shuttle from the train, breakfast, and shuttles to the ski resorts each day. It was snowing when we arrived on Friday and snowed all day Saturday. Which is great if you have goggles, the one thing I neglected to rent. Here I am, cutting it up in my rental gear! Unfortunately, we had...

Silver Lining in Seattle: "Dream On"

http://silverliningseattle.blogspot.com/2009/01/dream-on.html

Tuesday, January 27, 2009. A couple of nights ago I had another dream about Moh. It's only the second dream that I have had about talking to him, at least that I remember. I didn't wake up with the feeling of his arms around me or his kisses lingering on my lips like my last dream about him, but I heard his laugh. It warmed my heart. I know he wants me to stop worrying about him. I'm working on it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Silver Lining in Seattle. View my complete profile. Try Not to Breathe.

Silver Lining in Seattle: September 2008

http://silverliningseattle.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 27, 2008. Without you, the ground thaws, the rain falls, the grass grows. Without you, the seeds root, the flowers bloom, the children play. The stars gleam, the poets dream, the eagles fly, without you. The earth turns, the sun burns, but I die, without you.". I know Moh would be mad at me for this. I know he wants me to go on with my life. I'm trying, but there is just so much pain I don't know how to deal with. The Heart May Freeze. Or It Can Burn. The Pain Will Ease. If I Can Learn.

Silver Lining in Seattle: April 2008

http://silverliningseattle.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Why Don't You Get a Job! I'm going back to the career plan I had right out of college, a career in public relations. I have been speaking with a friend of my brother-in-law who works in public relations in San Francisco, and he recommended I have a short "oral presentation" of my past experience and why PR that I can deliver at interviews. So, why PR? My skills have always been strong in reading, writing and speaking. Since then, technology has been a passion of mine and I'm al...

Saturday, January 31, 2009. Photo from National Geographic. I had an opportunity to attend a World Affairs Council. Viewing of Rick Steves' Iran: Yesterday and Today. Tonight and I found it fascinating. The program itself was fascinating. The architecture, art and culture of Iran was so interesting and beautiful! And, as Moh's mother had said, everyone in Iran was so kind and friendly! During a traffic jam, a stranger gave Rick Steves a bouquet of flowers and apologized for the traffic! A couple of night...

Silver Lining in Seattle: "The Trapeze Swinger"

http://silverliningseattle.blogspot.com/2009/01/trapeze-swinger.html

Sunday, January 25, 2009. Getting to the cabin was another adventure as two cars, including my rental, got stuck in the snow/ice. I’m a bit nervous driving in ice these days after my car slid into a truck on I-5, so I left it to the guys to get me out of there. (Thanks Steve! It was exactly what I needed, a group of people that loved Moh remembering and celebrating his life. We continued the celebration at a strip club in Reno. I’m sure Moh loved this part most of all! I know I’m not alone. Moh...January...

Sunday, August 31, 2008. I Had A Dream". I Had A Dream- Joss. Had a dream last night. What a lovely dream it was. I dreamed we all were alright. Happy in a land of oz. What a lovely dream it was". Last night I had a dream that was upsetting, comforting, scary and sweet and tender. I was going through a drive thru. Next thing I knew I was in a large warehouse. Or something with a bunch of other Americans. The terrorists seemed to be on the other side of the warehouse. Were with us. I went over to Moh.

Starting all over as friends is going be tough. On us, we gotta face it. We lost what we had. That would hurt us so bad. Set us back a thousand years. But we going to make it up. Gas-passing Mama

Friday, January 1, 2010. I think the kids' favorite place to sit and eat snacks is up on the heating unit behind the couch. You can see the cracks in the wall from where the previous owner of this unit had mirrors hanging that we decided needed to go. See anything different with Alex? We finally cut Alex's hair, this was as we were trying to comb it out. It's not drastically different, he just doesn't look like we live in a trailer park anymore. Saturday, December 19, 2009. Walking in a winter wonderland.

I started my Karate training at the tender age of five with Ray Barrow at Roding School of Karate after watching the film The Karate Kid . I graded to first Dan at the age of nine achieving a first class pass; at the time Roding Karate Club was part of the all- conquering Shikon Association. I would like to thank my Sensei; Nariman Jeddi. Who’s Knowledge, training, and perseverance enabled me to become European Champion. By becoming England's First Male Kata Champion,.
