How do you Learn Outdoors? | Reflected Learning
https://reflectedlearning.wordpress.com/2013/04/16/learning-outdoors
Why The Toughest Pupils Are Never Absent →. How do you Learn Outdoors? April 16, 2013. Creating opportunities for learning outdoors is a topic that has been making its way slowly to the top of my to-do list over the last year or so. In an ideal world, I’d love to engage my children in curriculum-related outside learning activities for large parts of every day, but, in reality, I struggle to provide opportunities that are as effective and purposeful as anything I provide in an indoors setting.

Why The Toughest Pupils Are Never Absent. Tips to encourage lie-ins (in early-waking children) →. February 15, 2014. The levelling system to record and report children’s levels of attainment and progress is being removed because:. It’s complicated and difficult (for parents) to understand. It restricts teachers to thinking about a pupil’s current level, rather than what they can actually do. Such a prescribed system doesn’t fit with the new curriculum freedoms. Any new approaches to formative assessment ...

Tips to encourage lie-ins (in early-waking children). ADHD – Behaviour Management Strategies →. March 8, 2015. I don’t believe any schools have a policy of rewarding bad behaviour, but this TES article. Suggests that firm boundaries and sanctions will be enough to fix the problem. While there are many children for whom this will be true, there are many other children, for a plethora of different reasons, who need a bit more than sanctions to help modify their behaviour. These ‘ipad games’ and...You are c...

Newer posts →. Why The Toughest Pupils Are Never Absent. May 5, 2013. Watching a TED Talk by Rita Pierson inspired me to write this blog post. The toughest kids show up every day for a reason. She says. Throughout the year, with the average absence rate of 3%, we might expect each individual to be absent for about six days, but the ones we occasionally need a break from seem never to be off. Will that work for everyone? How do you Learn Outdoors? April 16, 2013. Creating opportunities for learning outdoo...

The ramblings of a 21st century pre-service teacher. Using ICT's in the classroom. May 23, 2015. The students were late out on both days. In all honesty, the bell isn’t very loud and can barely be heard in the classroom even if the class is silent. I’m struggling to incorporate as much ICT as I would like but I’ll write a separate blog post about that. Here’s hoping week 2 is just as successful, if not more so! May 21, 2015. Today I planned and taught my first full day, and I absolutely loved it! Not eve...

National Zoo by Scott Lock. What inspired you to design you National Zoo? My kids, no doubt. They wanted to take the zoo cams with them wherever they wanted to go. We love the zoo and there was no app out on any platform at the time for National Zoo. I am also a big fan of Windows Phone and a user group leader who was talking about it all the time. I thought that I needed to build something substantial in order to have some credibility. How did you go about making the National Zoo app? My advice is just ...

March 16, 2015. When a child doesn’t make a good attachment to their primary care-giver, they can be said to have an attachment disorder. This may take many forms (and have a variety of labels), and can be for many reasons, but the symptoms can be treated in the same ways; the child can be supported in the same ways. Here are some strategies I use when teaching children with an attachment disorder:. Relationship with key adult. Sharing good work to home. What we Like’ Certificates. March 14, 2015. Consid...
