Renee's Reflections: Winding down

http://www.reflectionsfromuganda.blogspot.com/2009/09/winding-down.html

Saturday, September 26, 2009. It's hard to believe it is our third Saturday in Uganda! Today is the day all the Amazima sponsored children come to Katie's for praise and worship and lunch. One thing I have realized is that it is a LOT of work! Love you, Katie! Thank you for showing me what loving others well looks like in a beautiful way. May His Presence undergird and strengthen you to continue to walk this hard and beautiful journey. September 26, 2009 at 7:01 PM. September 27, 2009 at 8:31 PM. HIJACKE...

Renee's Reflections: beads, beads and more beads

http://www.reflectionsfromuganda.blogspot.com/2009/09/beads-beads-and-more-beads.html

Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Beads, beads and more beads. Yesterday we went back to the Karamajong village to buy beads that Suzanne and Gwen have ordered to be used for 147 million orphans. As we arrived, the children ran to the van with warm greetings and joy! As we walked down the path to wear the women were waiting, they began to cry out with joy that we were there! Each of them was draped in at strands and strands of beads that they had made and were thrilled to sell! September 24, 2009 at 4:36 PM.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009. WHY AM I HERE! As I looked into her eyes, I thought, OH LORD! This could be MY child! How do you process that you just laid a sick and possibly dying girl on a cold table in a room shared by another patient at the foot of the same table? How do you process that they are treating her with medicines and they don't know what's wrong with her? Or the lack of communication, or the lack of information? How do you deal with that? September 30, 2009 at 6:32 PM. And by the way.

Renee's Reflections: Lessons Learned

http://www.reflectionsfromuganda.blogspot.com/2009/09/lessons-learned.html

Sunday, September 27, 2009. Today is Court Date for Dana and Suzanne. They will receive their verbal ruling which will make Josie Love and Asher legally theirs. Please pray for them as they go through this day. If we have learned anything, it’s that things can sometimes be unpredictable, but we are trusting God for His Spirit to fall over and through that place and that everything will go as expected! I saw Asher just before they left for Kampala where the court is. He was so excited! I am grateful today...

Hawaii 2 Africa (Carly's Blog): September 2009

http://hawaii2africa.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Ellies Run/ African Leadership's work. After that we went to their work in Haruma slum and another clinic where they see 100 people a day. We were greated by some very poor children. They took our hands and led us to the high school, with 12 teachers, 16o students, and the school was made out of large metal shipping containers for only$40,000 dollars! A big difference in the Huruma slum. I pray that all of these kids will follow their dreams and be whoever God wants them to be.

kusali: October 2009

http://kusali.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Written 20 October, past bedtime:. I finally got an appointment with the American pediatrician! Just in time, as a fever has joined his cough and runny nose. I know it’s so American of me to think H1N1, but I just read in the paper that Tanzania has Africa’s second highest rate of H1N1 cases (South Africa is number one). We see the doctor Friday (a three day wait! We’re working on consequences (Oh! I need to remember to translate that online! Impulsive and irrational decisions make such good memories!

Turn up your volume! Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The circus is in town! Literally. Mama Afrika Circus has set up right down the road from our apartment. It's only 8000tsh (less than 8 bucks) annnnd 2 for 1, so really we will pay less than 3 dollars a piece to go to the circus! We went to Disco Night at Blue Heron and a guy told us the circus is something you'd expect in Europe and he was blown away. Heath and I are worried it might scare the kids. What age is old enough for the circus? He kept looking a...

Saturday, September 26, 2009. Reflections. 10 Days in Jinja, Uganda. I will really miss these kids! Today is my last full day here in Uganda. Tomorrow. We are flying to Nairobi to spend a week there with the Warrens and visit the African Leadership schools in the slums of Kibera. Then Dan came over and was crying. I sat up, and took Benja. Or "sit." Now all of them are crying, and I'm. Wondering," What am I supposed to do now? I'm about to go back to Amani (the orphanage). I have spent time thinking ...

Monday, October 5, 2009. Today is my last day in Africa. I just got back from a Safari with my dad in. The middle of the Masi Mara. it's about as close to nowhere as you can imagine, but very beautiful. It was amazing. We saw baby warthogs, buffalo, zebra, giraffes, hippos! We saw a lion chasing a cheetah! We walked for a while, and eventually we came to the Masai Village. It made me sad to see how they had to live. There is terrible drought in Kenya and they have lost a lot since it started. The...Well ...

Reflections from the Warren

Wednesday, March 14, 2012. We were in the truck this morning, when I spied my grandson sizing up a small ant that was crawling on the window. At a red light, he used his thumb to try and squash it. To his surprise, the ant continued its march. He tried again! Lord, help me with my perspective. daily. Sunday, March 4, 2012. The Warren is Still Inhabited and Growing. Reflections from the Wilderness. Monday, 28 July 2014. A flurry of shaved heads and peeled skin on the palms. Emission of a dinky sweaty odour from the warm and physically exhausted bodies. Reflections from Tibirkegade | Reflections, poems, stories and other things

Reflections, poems, stories and other things. September 13, 2014. In the elevator business. Rather pushed to the rings. Or the lords or the trolls. In the elevator business. People stays late in the office. Or in the hole or the sole. What ever place strict randomness. It is like any other business. Claustrophobic and risky at times. Boring and comfortable when it lasts. In the elevator business rubies tend to melt. And diamonds hold forever, like in any other business. Simplicity never finds it way.

Reflections From My True Self. Remembering Who I Really Am. April 2, 2015. Dear ones, I have been away for so long! I have been writing elsewhere, and thought my old-fashioned methods of letting you know about that would suffice. Clearly, I didn’t consult with the technology fairies, or they would have advised that I post about it here. Finally, thanks to some of you reaching out and letting me know you were wondering, I am here, with this link. And wish you peace, and joy, and a life you thrive in.

REFLECTIONS FROM THE HILL. Reflections from an English Teacher Passionate about Learning. STUDENTS SHARING LEARNING IN THE BIG SCARY WORLD. June 8, 2013. Rarely do I get a chance to see and hear about how my learners’ work has been shared beyond my desk. I think it would be pretty accurate to say that most students’ assignments and projects, despite the many hours that may have gone into the product, end up in the recycle bin. In the end, we’re valuing the grade. Aren’t we? What I found to be so great ab...
