Reflections on the Pond: May 2012

http://reflectionsonthepond.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Reflections on the Pond. Thursday, May 24, 2012. 100 Things Before I Go, Redux. Some of you - the extraordinarily patient among you - have been reading long enough to remember my Life List. Back then, I had a good handle on the reasons for the list. ". writing them down forms a commitment with your soul to reach further. To live bigger. And smaller. To remember that we all go. To recognize the time is now.". Yet another of the threads I dropped in the long haul to my new job and new life LA. (sigh).

Reflections on the Pond: Three Prayer Morning

http://reflectionsonthepond.blogspot.com/2013/06/spinning.html

Reflections on the Pond. Saturday, June 08, 2013. In the middle of an enormous project at work and cannot figure out how to turn it off. Three days this week my day started at 3:30 am and ended about midnight. No one expects this of me, but I cannot turn off the drumbeat in my head. Every minute brings me closer to the deadline, and I can't seem to tolerate letting it pass without progress toward the goal. Everything is better after 60 minutes on the sand. I don't know what to do. Thanks.

Reflections on the Pond: SUP

http://reflectionsonthepond.blogspot.com/2013/06/sup.html

Reflections on the Pond. Sunday, June 16, 2013. Heading off to Marina del Rey at 7:15 am, I wondered what the heck I was doing. Killing time before class, I wandered around contemplating the water- shiny with oil and murky with its-better-not-to-know what. A manta ray swam by, and I fought off the impulse to retreat all the way to Brentwood. Once again, I was not only preparing to do something very close to stupid, I was paying someone for the privilege. Will I ever learn? Driving home with Paula's top d...

Reflections on the Pond: September 2010

Reflections on the Pond. Thursday, September 30, 2010. Living as a Writer. My mother was a cheerleader. Somehow, she's managed to leave out this fascinating tidbit in the telling of her life story. My dad looked quite dapper in his basketball uniform. He was the cutest boy in his high school class, too. Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Not All Dogs Bark. After listening to other folks read, I recognized the limitations of my thinking. If I'm brutally honest with myself, it is one of my great failings a...

Old train, I can hear your whistle blow. But I won't be jumping on again." - Tony Rice. Sunday, October 14, 2007. MEME me up, Scotty. I've been tagged for a MEME about my "writing." I don't really know what a MEME is and I am still only able to refer to my "writing" with quotation marks, but who am I to question the infinite wisdom of Carrie Link. Five tidbits about my "writing:". 3 Like I do with many (most) things in my life, I tend to make my writing/blogging experience more complicated than it needs ...

Easy Bake Mom: MOTHERS WISDOM

http://easybake-mom.blogspot.com/2011/05/mothers-wisdom.html

Sunday, May 08, 2011. Reaching life’s milestones has a way of propelling me toward inward reflection to ponder the meaning of life and my place in it. My most recent birthday and the arrival of an AARP card bearing my name seemed to juxtapose where. Where I am going. Leaving me sitting to marinate in. We are all a work in progress being molded and shaped by events along our journey, but most of life’s lessons for me simply echo the wisdom of my first teacher; my mom. Ask God for help. 8221; It has become...

Go Mama: The Closing

http://go-mama.blogspot.com/2006/09/closing.html

Musings on Motherhood, Life, and the State of the Heart. Thursday, September 28, 2006. As part of my unearthing process, an awareness came that begged to be recorded. As I sat down to write it out, I realized I may have written the closing of my book. Very exciting discovery. On further examination however, I believe it is more suited to be the preface, the call to action. Either way, I share it with you. I can see why I got nowhere asking what it's like. This is the work of life, of building bridges, of...

Been working on the website(s). Been designing my business cards. Received them from the printer today. (They turned out better than expected. Yay! Been booking additional seminars. Been leading the already booked seminars. Been advancing the upcoming seminars. Been building on the building I've already done. Without a sewing machine?

Reflections on the Psalms | Just another WordPress.com site

Reflections on the Psalms. Just another WordPress.com site. December 9, 2010. Think back on your life. Describe on paper when you were happy. Examine your history and discover what your unique talents are. What do you value most, and are you living according to those values? Part of meditating is thinking about what is happening in our lives and what is happening to us. The priorities may change slightly but really not very much. When we grew up, we learned our values by observing our parents and...The B...

Reflections on Therapy

Friday, 23 January 2015. Working with Addiction Part Two. Nor are these the only circumstances which can be associated with shame. Being routinely disliked or bullied, being on the receiving end of name-calling, being emotionally deprived and unloved, can all produce a fundamental sense of unworthiness. Those who have arrived from another country or find themselves socially isolated can suffer from the bigotry and prejudice of others. Racism, anti-Semitism and Islamaphobia can induce a sense of shame.
