Tuesday, 17 February 2015. VALENTINE'S DAY BROUGHT A WEEKEND OF GOOD EATING. I made Barb and me a seafood feast Friday night. Shrimp sautéed in butter, garlic and parsley, lobster tails broiled, asparagus, mushrooms cooked in olive oil with garlic, rapini, baked potato with sour cream and of course some fresh Italian bread. Barb topped her meal off with a glass of her favourite white wine. A get together at a daughter's house with all the family. Since sweets are the reason for the day. The carrots, onio...

Sunday, 10 May 2015. A MOTHER'S DAY FEAST-CANADIAN MUSSELS AND LOBSTER. I made my wife a nice mother's day meal last night. Mussels with a tomato sauce with some white wine and hot peppers. The small lobster tails were broiled in the oven. Fried left over pepper slices the grandkids did not eat at lunch in some olive oil and garlic. Tomato wedges and cucumbers with red vinegar and olive oil- salt to taste. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Reflective Thoughts by Barbara. Why I like to cook?

Lots of summer salads. Turkey breasts with mashed potatoes, peas and gravy on Thursday. Pizza Fridays with some homemade zucchini pizza along with a store bought one. Chicken parmigiano with spaghetti. Lots of vegetables- beans, rapini, cucumbers were a few. Tomatoes- large and small! Many days of scrambled eggs and bacon!

Friday, 26 June 2015. DEVILLED EGGS-EASY FOR AN APPETIZER FOR A PARTY. Devilled eggs are a fun appetizer for any party. Boiling the eggs, peeling the shells, cutting in half, scooping out the yolk and putting in a bowl mixing with mayonnaise and scooping back into the half shells. Put some paprika on top with a leaf of fresh parsley then you have a nice platter of devilled eggs. Of course, this is Barb's dish- she make it. I just eat them! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sunday, 26 April 2015. COOK'S TRIP TO VINNIE ZUCCHINI'S FOR A BIRTHDAY BASH. A inviting dessert area too. With birthday cake, no need to eat too much of the sweets. The restaurant relocated from the Dufferin/Steeles area to the edge of Vaughan Mills- a huge mall in Vaughan just off the 400 highway. Easy parking! With the seniors discount, I just may take Barb another time for a quick dinner out! Oh the service was good too! My oldest granddaughter sat beside me too so it was a wonderful time. For those t...

granpalovestocook: December 2014

Tuesday, 23 December 2014. AN EARLY CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER BLENDING TWO CULTURES. Lots of seafood too! A variety of veggies such as peas, broccoli, as well as olives and other appetizers with dips. Of course, dessert for one and all. A cheesecake and apple cake! Cookie decorating by the children. A fun creative way to serve fruit to children! So a dish with pasta with seafood sauce and meat sauce symbolizes the blend of both worlds, doesn't it. Have to love the Christmas season! Still more eating to go.

I also like to add some fried mushrooms to the meal. Cooked with some garlic in olive oil, they are tasty the way my mother used to make them. I know, I said it was Barb's meal but someone has to be in the kitchen supervising her! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Reflective Thoughts by Barbara. SEAONSAL CHANGES CAN CAUSE MOOD CHANGES.

Sunday, 21 September 2014. A COOK VISITS THE RICHMOND HILL FARMERS' MARKET. It was an easy market trip in mid-August. Just up Yonge street to the Performing Arts Theatre parking lot in Downtown Richmond Hill. There was a small farmer's market on Saturdays we thought we should try. Another local one is in the Hillcrest Mall parking lot Wednesdays and Sundays. With about 15 tables of goodies, there was some selection to peruse. Not a bad haul! Peaches, plums, cucumbers, jam and soap! Why I like to cook?
