Scotch Box | Reid Eric Anderson

On April 17, 2013. This wall hung cabinet is made from hard maple and is hand cut and hand carved. The carved image is of a scotch thistle and the box is designed to hold liquors and a few glasses below the shelf. Personally being a Scotch fan I figured if you own a wonderful bottle it deserves a beautiful place to live. The box is hand oiled and then buffed with a wax to leave it feeling glassy smooth. I have made this box in different woods and with different stains to clients request.

Curly Maple Chippendale Side Chair. On October 9, 2013. This curly maple side chair is extremely comfortable with its upholstered seat and hand sculpted back splat. The chair fits in the chippendale era, but its simple design is enhanced by its overly figured wood. The velvety finish is a combination of oil based varnish then hand-buffed with wax. Materials – Eastern Figured Maple, Wool. Finish – Oil Based Varnish, Wax. Size – 20 1/2″ x 39″ x 20″. Best of the Northwest.

Tool Box | Reid Eric Anderson

On October 1, 2013. A required piece to graduate from North Bennet Street School. I made this box in my interpretation of classic tool boxes with a cheaper wood exterior and a expensive interior. The cherry interior with sterling silver pulls exemplifies this to the fullest. The pulls were designed and fabricated by my brother Martin a successful jeweler and artist of his own. The poplar is then dyed and finished with an oil based varnish. Materials – Poplar, Cherry, Sterling Silver. Best of the Northwest.

Modern Night Stands | Reid Eric Anderson

On October 9, 2013. Inspired by classic shaker night stands this deceptively simple design visually transfers the weight from top to the ground with slenderly tapered legs. The base is painted by fellow artist Drew Iwaniw. Drew previously was a professor at UW Madison in the print department. The base is then lacquered matte to protect the paint top is finished with a satin lacquer to give it an effective and protective finish. Materials – Poplar, Maple. Finish – Paint, Lacquer. Best of the Northwest.
