The Reidnet Journal: A chance of showers
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2013/02/a-chance-of-showers.html
Sunday, 24 February 2013. A chance of showers. We have shower power! Yes, we finally have a shower in our new home. We purchased the shower back in September on one of our very short visits to B&Q. The visits are short because the wife can't stay in a B&Q, or any kind of home improvement or DIY store, for longer than five minutes, itching to leave as soon as she can. Whether you’re in for something essential or just a wander, Ka will get impatient within minutes. Perhaps not fit an electric shower though.
The Reidnet Journal: June 2012
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, 30 June 2012. Candlebags were also placed on the slope of the hill, running up to the piper. The bags on the hill all lit in the darkness, their placement spelling out one single word. Hope. It was an emotional moment. Always ruined by someone making odd noises in their grief, snorting unpleasantly, or blowing their nose loudly in the quietness. I blamed the drink. I wasn’t drunk, upon leaving Glasgow, but I had been merry. Yes, I was once more forced along to another John Barrowman concert, th...
The Reidnet Journal: May 2012

Friday, 25 May 2012. A long train journey and the benefits of chainmail. 8220;There’s no way she’s 30! 8221; Ka scoffed under her breath, as the birthday gaggle started, Ka drinking her coffee that had been hastily purchased on the way for our soon to be departing train in Glasgow Central from a girl that asked us how to make a Mocha. When I left Birmingham, back in 2004, New Street station and the surrounding Pallasades shopping centre was being renovated and modernised. The local park, The Shire Countr...
The Reidnet Journal: April 2013
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 April 2013. Baptism, balloons and musical bumps. At 115 of the 21st April we all gathered in St. Leonard's church for Sophie's baptism. Sophie was kitted out in her finest whites, but only after a rather chaotic, unsettled, morning in the house. We took our place in the front pew of the church alongside Angela and Kenneth, Sophie’s new Godparents and along with the gathered family and friends behind us, eagerly awaited the beginning of the service. Sophie did behave herself all the way throug...
The Reidnet Journal: Baking bad
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2013/04/baking-bad.html
Thursday, 18 April 2013. It was the second week of April and it was party time! People were cheering all over Scotland, there were parties in George Square and jubilant headlines adorned the newspapers. Surprisingly enough it was nothing to do with Ka and my own birthdays coming around again. Seemingly it was all to do with some old bint that used to be Prime Minister kicking the bucket. Mum, Dad and Lynsey Ann came round to join us for dinner on my birthday during which we enjoyed Ka’s famous spag...
The Reidnet Journal: January 2013
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 22 January 2013. Bottles and box sets. Saturday the 12th of January 2013 was a big day for me. There was nothing particularly exciting about it. No events. No occasions. In fact, I didn’t even leave the house. The only reason it was vaguely ‘big’ in any way was solely down to the fact I was being left in charge of my own child for the first time. Ka was going out on the town with her girlfriends and leaving me in charge. 8220;On you go! 8221; I insisted. “It’ll be good for you! It’s brilli...
The Reidnet Journal: December 2012
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, 31 December 2012. December arrived and disappeared just as quickly in a blur of visitors, bottles, baubles and disappointing television. Never before has my life changed so much in such a short space of time following the arrival of baby Sophie Reid on the 19th November. Life as I knew it was turned upside down, spun sideways and then given a hefty slap from an overgrown halibut and sent flailing into a nearby canal. It's not as if she'll fade away! I hope nobody from the RSPCC is reading? The fa...
The Reidnet Journal: Little talk of monsters
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2013/02/little-talk-of-monsters.html
Thursday, 28 February 2013. Little talk of monsters. The animated video itself reminded me of the kind of artwork created by the likes of Dave McKean and Neil Gaiman, the basic, child like depictions of the moving figures reminded me of J.R.R. Tolkien’s own illustrations for his Middle Earth books. Posted by Michael Reid. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Little talk of monsters. A chance of showers. Bath time, Boris and Bowie.
The Reidnet Journal: November 2012
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 28 November 2012. Apologies for the absence. I have a good excuse though. Baby Reid number 2, Sophie Reid was born at 9.33am on Monday 19th November 2012. As you can see, she was pulled out into the world with a bit of a grumpy expression on her face, but she was forced to arrive three weeks early I suppose. Mum is fine and recovering whilst Sophie is. well, hard work. I'm off to bed to try and catch up with some more sleep. Posted by Michael Reid. Monday, 12 November 2012. Baby likes apples t...
The Reidnet Journal: Pointless lovers
http://reidnetjournal.blogspot.com/2013/02/pointless-lovers.html
Monday, 18 February 2013. Being full time parents is bad for one thing. Sitting on the couch. Obviously the sitting on the couch phase will pass once baby starts crawling, walking, running, jumping and climbing but at the moment parenting involves a lot of sitting around, bouncing things on knees and watching tv. Hoping that she won’t pay much attention though I still sneak the occasional episode whilst feeding Sophie, (I’m now on season 3! You wouldn’t get any of that on Breaking Bad, I told a con...
