Everyday life of a veterinarian's wife! And more from the beginning of March…. Ft Worth →. March 11, 2014. We moved Micah to a semi-big boy bed! Yep, it finally happened (I say finally like it’s been forever, he’s only 13 months old). Anyways, let’s back track a bit first. I always imagined that when we had kids I’d have these perfect gorgeous nurseries for them. Instead, Caylee lucked out with a few things on the wall and a brand new crib and dresser (first kid! Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Curious George Birthday Party. My little ones turned 2 and 3 this month. This year I decided a combo birthday party was in order. (Score one for Mommy's sanity.) Both are HUUUUUUUGE fans of Curious George so the theme was easy! Since it was an am party we had mostly breakfast foods - Palm Tree Fruits, Banana Punch, Peanut Butter and Banana Toasts, Scrambled Egg Stuffed Puff Pastry and Monkey Cupcakes! The Man With the Yellow Hat even showed up! Floor puzzles were also a big hit.

One Fish, Two Fish, Pink Fish, Blue Fish: April 2012

Monday, April 23, 2012. I enjoy theme birthday parties. One of my favorite parts is the decorating. Since my kids are little, two of our most recent parties have been Curious George and Winnie the Pooh. Now, since licensed decorations are expensive I came up with a way to recreate large format characters. They can be used to hang on windows, walls, etc. As a side note - these also make great bedroom decorations. We had Pooh up on the kids' room for a year! Trace those parts onto the larger character....

One Fish, Two Fish, Pink Fish, Blue Fish: October 2011

Wednesday, October 26, 2011. So now that most of us are confined to the house these wet fall days, what's better than some great indoor arts 'n crafts? Since I'm now kinda addicted to Pinterest. There are so many great things over there I'm loving to find, try and put my spin on. This idea I found at Infarrantly Creative. First order of business - divide your crayons into general color groups. To make labels I used the leftover wax and colored almost all of a 2 x 4 inch mailing label the same color as th...

Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Wall Hanging Spice Storage. As I've said before, I live in a small place. I also like to cook and have collected a large quantity of spices over the last few years. These two things usually don't go together well but I have found a solution that works for me and I thought I'd share. Here's the finished product. My specific version includes one visit to World Market and a label maker. But there are many, many variations that could be done. I used a label maker. I have used th...

One Fish, Two Fish, Pink Fish, Blue Fish: September 2011

Thursday, September 29, 2011. So to give a little background, in 2009 we had our beautiful daughter Kaylee. We were so excited for the arrival of our beautiful baby girl. So happy that we had the foresight to get a 2 bedroom condo instead of a one bedroom. We painted her room pink and green and all was right with the world. Yay - Kaylee's home! See how excited the cat is? What on earth am I going to do with a boy? And where are we going to put him? Hope he likes pink. Apparently he likes blue. This summe...

One Fish, Two Fish, Pink Fish, Blue Fish: Storage Boxes
http://www.pinkfishbluefish.com/2012/01/storage-boxes.html
Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Well, it's been awhile but I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year! This is my favorite project to date. I love that it's cheap, easy and super useful. All you need are cardboard boxes, scrapbook paper, spray adhesive and electrical tape. I did these a few years ago for Kaylee's room. I've found good boxes at The Container Store. And Ikea. Just regular moving boxes work fine. I think I spent $1.49 on the 12 x 12 ones at The Container Store. If you al...

One Fish, Two Fish, Pink Fish, Blue Fish: Homemade Easter Bunny Baskets
http://www.pinkfishbluefish.com/2012/03/homemade-easter-bunny-baskets.html
Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Homemade Easter Bunny Baskets. It's snowing in Seattle today - but that doesn't mean we can't look ahead to Easter! These baskets are based on ones that my mother made my sister and I when we were children. I gave my daughter my pink one, but needed a boy version for my son. The green one is the unisex "how-to, maybe someone will use it someday" version. A hot glue gun and glue. Batting (or cotton balls). 1 small puff ball. 2 medium puff balls. 1 jumbo puff ball. Sew and iron flat.

One Fish, Two Fish, Pink Fish, Blue Fish: Pumpkins!
http://www.pinkfishbluefish.com/2011/10/pumpkins.html
Friday, October 7, 2011. We decided to go with no-carve pumpkins this year. Carving is messy and involves knives - so we pulled out the paint and went to work! Here's what we came up with. This was so much fun that I'm pretty sure there will be more before the month's over. But this is a good start. I allowed Kaylee to use acrylic paint on the big pumpkin (under close supervision) but the smaller ones were done with fingerpaint. I did this in two steps. One night I painted the whole pumpkin red, the ...

One Fish, Two Fish, Pink Fish, Blue Fish: Update
http://www.pinkfishbluefish.com/2012/06/update.html
Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Well - it's been awhile since I've posted so I thought I'd just say hi. :-). It's been an interesting few months. I went for full-time in the office to 3/4 time. Now I get to work some from home! I love it but it really keeps me busy and on my toes. I spend two days a week in the office and do the other hours in the early morning, during naps, and after the kids go to bed. It is certainly a different schedule but I love being able to spend the extra time with the kiddos.
