Hello World! | Relative Connections

https://relativeconnections.wordpress.com/2012/03/26/hello-world-2

Finding, Keeping and Sharing of Family. SharingMaybe start here. I didn’t much like my name Jacintha, as a child growing up here in Australia. Now, that I am in my 40s though, I quite like it. Thanks Mum x. FindingI enjoying rummaging through things and at the moment that is family history. It’s challenging most of the time but so amazing when you find someone or some new piece of your family puzzle. I would love to hear your stories and it is my hope that you will enjoy mine too. https://relativeconnections.wordpress.com/2012/03/27/the-kindness-of-a-stranger-or-two

Finding, Keeping and Sharing of Family. The Kindness of a Stranger or two. Along the road to finding my family I have been surprised by the kind heartedness of people I don’t know. In particular, I was helped by two strangers to trace the exact origin of my maternal great-grandfather Samuel Merrypor. My heritage is very mixed, just like many descendents of migrants here in Australia. One facet of my heritage is that I am an. Australian South Sea Islander. I am a descendent of the 60,000 islanders who were.

Finding, Keeping and Sharing of Family. Can you move forward without looking back? I read an article this morning which stated. There is no future in your past. I could possibly have understood and agreed with this statement if it was written in the realm of say, forgiving someone. However, this particular article was about leaving behind culture for a modern reality. Really? What on earth would forgetting culture achieve? My experience is that knowing where you come from can help you :. 5 thoughts on &l...

Boxed In | Relative Connections

Finding, Keeping and Sharing of Family. When meeting someone new I am often asked ‘So, where are you from? I usually answer ‘I am from Bowen’ even though I know they are really asking where my coloured skin comes from. Sometimes I find this a really hard question to answer to someone I have just met. At last count I have found 6 different homelands in my family line and I haven’t even finished tracing my family yet. I am not saying I am not proud of my mixed heritage. I am very proud and if it is rel...

Relative Connections | Finding, Keeping and Sharing of Family

Finding, Keeping and Sharing of Family. As soon as school finished on Friday, my youngest boy was on the train headed north to spend the Easter school holidays at his Grandmother’s. School holidays for me growing up, was much the same except I had to travel south and I was going to visit my Grandfather. My husband John, was working out west this week so I asked him to photograph some of those old trees for me. He tells me they were hard to find, but he did manage to find a few along that old highway.
