Atomic Warlords: July 2014
http://atomicwarlords.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 31, 2014. End of Month Musings. Well July was a busy month. Let's start with GW's Sanctus Reach Campaign. I really like it! This is the kind of thing they need to do more often, a solid campaign supported by novels, some new figures, and new Codexes. The main book, The Red Waaagh! Is a very well done supplement. Great new artwork, a good narrative of the battles and characters, and 11 missions. Plus a few formations and new rules for Planetstrike for good measure. I saw this in my inbox an...

Atomic Warlords: June 2014
http://atomicwarlords.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2014. We picked up Firefly: The Game a couple of weeks ago. Yes, I know, welcome to eight months ago. I enjoyed the show and felt it was canceled prematurely, but I am not a Browncoat. So I waited on the game until I got some positive feedback on how it was as a game, not just fan service. Luckily, it does both! We recommend Firefly: The Game if you liked the show and enjoy a good sci-fi trader/smuggler game. Go Roll Some Dice. He's not the first psycho to hire us, nor the last. There is...

In The Grim Cheapness of the Future...: 01.2015
http://thegrimcheapness.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
In The Grim Cheapness of the Future. Having fun with 40K on a budget. Imperial Knights, Part X. Okay, so. when I left off I’d finished all the cannon elements. But it struck me I hadn’t shown off the assembled cannon. The heavy stubber was the same. The detail pieces gave it enough surface area for the glue to adhere, and the top edge could press up against the base of the battle cannon. Again, held in two directions. It was very, very solid. All four layers if I was building with card? There are three c...

Atomic Warlords: Imperial Assault Part II: The Game
http://atomicwarlords.blogspot.com/2015/04/imperial-assault-part-ii-game.html
Friday, April 24, 2015. Imperial Assault Part II: The Game. Imperial Assault comes with standard Fantasy Flight excellent components, but how does it play? First let us define what this game is. It is a tactical combat board game with two modes of play: Skirmish and Campaign. Skirmish mode is a battle between two players. Each player buys 40 points worth of forces and they fight in a randomly picked mission. No super-heroics in Skirmish, the six Rebel characters from the Campaign have "normal" ca...In on...

Atomic Warlords: January 2015
http://atomicwarlords.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. I have always liked the necrons. It's like someone took Iron Maiden's Powerslave album cover and mixed it with The Terminator, but in Space! I have taken a fast run through the new Codex and here is what I have found:. Standard high level production of the book. Great art and lots of pretty pictures of models. Seems like there is a little less fluff, but I have not read through it yet, so I'm not sure. The Stalkers squad size now 1-3 models. Yay! Crypteks work a bit differentl...

In The Grim Cheapness of the Future...: Gargant, Part Four
http://thegrimcheapness.blogspot.com/2015/06/gargant-part-four.html
In The Grim Cheapness of the Future. Having fun with 40K on a budget. Gargant, Part Four. Okay, time to build some arms and mount some dakka. So, you may recall I built two sockets in the thorax. Mentioned this before, but foamcore is always two cuts, at least. Always. When you try to go through foamcore in one cut, that’s when you get all those beads and tears and rough edges. Use a fresh blade in your hobby knife. Like they worked) believably with the assorted joints and hinges I’d be adding to t...

In The Grim Cheapness of the Future...: 08.2015
http://thegrimcheapness.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
In The Grim Cheapness of the Future. Having fun with 40K on a budget. So more dakka. And some other stuff. This one’s going to be kind of huge. I had a week off and I did a lot. I mentioned before, I built a simple arm for the rokkit pod based off the same design as the gargant’s actual arms. I fastened it to a square plate on the bottom and a round plate (a “swivel joint”) on the top. So maybe only use this method on single, specific things. Then I cut some long strips of cardstock for the scaffolding/g...

Atomic Warlords: November 2014
http://atomicwarlords.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Warhammer 40,000 Armageddon for the PC is now available. Head over to Steam. And get it this week for $10 off. I'm downloading it now and will have a review up in the near future. Looks great if you like the turn based wargame thing. Which I do, very much. Armageddon's Tourist Bureau has its work cut out for it. Friday, November 21, 2014. The Devil is in the Decals. Now that the glosscoat has set it is time to get down to business. What they do: Micro Set aids greatly in the...
