The Story of Us: January 2010
http://thelandrumsblog.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 24, 2010. From the Frozen Tundra. Robert happened to be online at the same time as me this morning and we were able to IM briefly. He said they are FREEZING because they're in a mountainous area now. I think -23 degrees was the last temp I heard. Unfathomable! He said he was wearing two pair of pants, two shirts, his jacket and gloves at all times. I asked him if his thermals were coming in handy. He said, "What thermals! Obviously he didn't check the front pocket of the suitcase! We flew...

The Story of Us: April 2010

Thursday, April 29, 2010. Who Do You Know? We are in chilly Minneapolis this morning attending the first day of the Christian Alliance for Orphans Conference. So far: incredible! We were able to hear Tom Davis. Speak at the opening session and he was part of the session I attended on engaging "Youth and College Age Students in Orphan Ministry". If you're unfamiliar with Tom, a great place to start is his book Fields of the Fatherless. So much has been said this morning that strikes us deeply. The mos...

Saturday, November 7, 2009. Had never had smores. Kristina was convinced that they sounded yucky, but after her first one she was hooked. Eventually the Hershey's chocolate ran out and the fire died down, but it's a sure bet you'll find us in the backyard next weekend again. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). With you is the fountain of life; In your light we see light" (Psalm 36:9). Two Words that Give Us Hope. John M. Frame. Robert N. Landrum. Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Two Words that Give Us Hope. Two Words that Give Us Hope. It is one of the Apostle Paul’s common teaching tools to paint the worst possible picture, to bring us to despair, to make us think that our situation is beyond relief, and then to use these two little words to show us that there is hope: “But God.”. 8220;But God.” A person may ...Let tha...

Worldview Ministries: Adoption Process Complete
http://worldviewministries.blogspot.com/2007/12/adoption-process-complete.html
With you is the fountain of life; In your light we see light" (Psalm 36:9). John M. Frame. Robert N. Landrum. Monday, December 24, 2007. First let me say that my last post seems a bit more preachy than I intended it to. I was hyped up for our trip to the Ukraine! Secondly, I have some developing ideas floating around in my head on the topic of adoption and missions which I hope to be posting in the near future. So stay tuned. Sorry for any confusion. With you is the fountain of life; In your light we see light" (Psalm 36:9). John M. Frame. Robert N. Landrum. Friday, February 29, 2008. When it comes to forgiveness we are dealing with both an easy and a complicated subject. We all need forgiveness. Less are willing to grant it. It is an insult to his death to require more that he has done. This sort of forgiveness gets complicated when we ask ourselves these questions. Do we only forgive fellow Christians? The conditional, "if he repents," is surely a ...

With you is the fountain of life; In your light we see light" (Psalm 36:9). A Deafening Silence: The Argument from Silence and. John M. Frame. Robert N. Landrum. Monday, January 7, 2008. A Deafening Silence: The Argument from Silence and Infant Baptism. The argument from silence (argumentum a silentio) is a logical fallacy. In what sense is it a fallacy though? The phrase "Infant baptism" is not explicitly mentioned in the bible, but does this mean that because the words themselves are not mentioned the ...

The Story of Us: Excuse Me, but the Correct Idiom is "Fall off the Wagon"
http://thelandrumsblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/excuse-me-but-correct-idiom-is-falling.html
Friday, August 6, 2010. Excuse Me, but the Correct Idiom is "Fall off the Wagon". It happened when I least expected it but fully needed it. Shoes kicked off, one leg slung over the arm of the recliner, saucer perched in hand, butter cream frosted slice of cake in midbite - Sam sidled up to me and with genuine sympathy said, "What's wrong mom? Did you break the wagon? She said, "I'll pick you up at 5 am.". That was bound to be a committed group of women. Although I wasn't thrilled about the early hour...
