Historic House Renovation: July 2008

Tuesday, July 22, 2008. How the paint picks turned out - What do you think? Wednesday, July 2, 2008. I have literally spent more time trying to figure out paint colors than I have spent on practically any decision I've ever made, from what college to go to, to what car to buy. There is just something about it that scares me, partly because I refuse to go with the same boring old beige throughout the house but I haven't felt confident enough to think I know how to coordinate colors. To be fair, I'm making...

Thursday, June 12, 2008. Really, really, really, really old wallpaper. We found this wallpaper under the sheetrock. The living, dining and kitchen all had their very own butt-ugly design. Living room.notice the random butterfly. Another layer in the kitchen. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our Little Coastal Adventure. Really, really, really, really old wallpaper. Historic House Renovation: Old house blues
http://historichousereno.blogspot.com/2008/06/if-youre-perfectionist-just-know-fixing.html
Wednesday, June 18, 2008. If you're a perfectionist, just know fixing up an old house is going to wear on your last nerve, especially if you're living there while the work is going on. The first few days, I came home from work completely unsuspecting. Then I developed a severe pavlovian resistance to coming home, afraid of what I will find. I was hypersensitive to every little thing that wasn't quite right. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our Little Coastal Adventure. View my complete profile.

Historic House Renovation: April 2007
http://historichousereno.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 29, 2007. Floorplans and remodeling by DNB Homes. Wednesday, April 25, 2007. It takes a village. Remodeling will be somewhat of a bureaucratic/democratic process, between me, the city, neighborhood association and the city's archaeological and historical commison. Pretty much anything I do to anything outside of the house requires approval and/or a permit from all three, each of which meet only once a month. Tuesday, April 10, 2007. Welcome to my very first blog entry! It's a free pass for ...

Historic House Renovation: Progress
http://historichousereno.blogspot.com/2008/07/progress.html
Wednesday, July 2, 2008. This first phase of the remodeling project has taken longer than expected. It was slated to be a two-week project, which granted was an optimistic estimate. About a month later, it is half-way there. To be fair, I'm making the decisions as I go, some of them not fast enough. And, I have thrown in extra items that were not part of the original plan. Plus, we had to fire the first trim guy, after struggling for a week and half to get him to do things right the first time. I also go...

Historic House Renovation: March 2008
http://historichousereno.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 20, 2008. My porch swing.it's my first "house" purchase and the closest thing to furniture I have bought. I can't wait till it ages to that nice weathered, distressed color. It is awesome to sit out there, especially when the storms roll in. Friday, March 14, 2008. Sorry about the jaundiced photos. I took these with my cell phone camera at night in one of the more yellowish flourescent lighting. Plus, the walls are a pale yellow (but hopefully not for too much longer!
