In response to a reader's question about the cost of these operations - I'm not paying anything, I'm having it done on the NHS (National Health Service in the UK), but it took 3 years of waiting and a lot of persuading. Wednesday, 15 July 2009. It must be third time lucky because so far so good! The recovery has been pretty painless and looks great already - no bleeding, the stitches have all disapeared already, and there's no pressure on the scar so hopefully it won't stretch. It's starting to look much much smaller too. I'm really pleased. Wednesday, 8 July 2009. And I'm impressed with the results this time! My birthmark almost looks half the size, and this was the least painful operation so far. The wait and build up to my appointment was long and hot - it was 32 degrees centigrade in London, and it was just as hot in the waiting room. My Mum came down to keep me company which really helped.
