What happens in Vegas . . . ends up in this blog. A 5k ( 30 pounds) THANK YOU to Our Troops. Happy Memorial Day (weekend), everyone! Random side note: a "celebrity" appearance was made by this guy. Don't recognize him? Me either. Apparently, he's the husband on the TLC show "Sister Wives," and he was here MINUS his three wives. With the crowd of desperate, fame-hungry women who surrounded him, I don't think it would be hard for him to find a fourth. Pathetic. I made Matty a promise that he could play at ...

What happens in Vegas . . . ends up in this blog. Fall is my absolute favorite season. The temperatures drop, the leaves change color, and the stores are filled with pumpkins and carmel apples. Unless you live in Vegas. We're still sweating in our shorts and t-shirts here, cacti stay the same shade of green, and the pumpkins and carmel apples will literally melt in the heat if you're not careful. I miss the Midwest. Wasn't too sure about the scratchy hay . . . RUN, CHICKEN, RUN! And, of course, you can't...

What happens in Vegas . . . ends up in this blog. Aliens, Ghosts, and One Stubborn Cow. Living in Las Vegas has been a mostly positive experience. The desert has grown on me, and the opportunities of things to do are just endless. However, I'm a midwestern girl at heart and sometimes I get just absolutely sick. Of being in a big city. I almost start to feel claustrophobic . . . and I've been feeling that way a lot. A whole lot of nothing. Did that stop us? The ONLY town on the Extraterrestrial Highway is...

However, my uncle's unexpected passing made us appreciate our time with family more than usual. We took advantage of every single minute home, and I really enjoyed being able to share with Matty some of the things that make Indiana such a special place to me. Below are just a few examples. Enjoy. :). There was also sweet, blessed rain! And helping fil...

What happens in Vegas . . . ends up in this blog. Easter. As a child, my parents were so good at the whole "Easter Bunny" thing; they were so creative about hiding eggs and filling our baskets. It was such an exciting time, waking up on Easter morning and discovering just what that elusive rabbit had left us, second only to Christmas morning. Remember how I said my parents were really good at the whole 'Santa/Easter Bunny' thing? Straight for the new truck. The one thing he liked about the egg hunt?

What happens in Vegas . . . ends up in this blog. 52-Week Challenge: Week Forty. This week's challenge is a bit broad and vague, like the one we had a few weeks back that encouraged us to "have healthy relationships." Umm. . . okay. So, I'll try to explain to the best of my ability what I think the author really means by this week's change, entitled "Be a Great Communicator.". Easier said than done, but here a few tips to get you started:. 1 Practice Active Listening. FOCUS on what the other person is sa...

What happens in Vegas . . . ends up in this blog. Sharks, Candy, and Lots and Lots of Mud. And, although the main reason for her trip was the race, it didn't mean I couldn't show her and her sweet kiddos some fun while they were in town. First stop: the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay! Our last trip to the Shark Reef was a nightmare. We not-so-fondly remember it as the 'Mandalay Bay Massacre.' (Reminisce about it here. Showing Kailey some fish . . . Talking to the fish in his own Matty language. After a quick...

What happens in Vegas . . . ends up in this blog. However, I'll give them credit- the place is filled with TONS of things to do and even I, the preggo who couldn't ride any rides, had a blast. Kudos, to you, South Korea. Well done. First things first: a safari. You're loaded onto a bus and driven out into areas where the animals roam free. We even saw a lion on top of one of the cars (don't tell PETA). There were, of course, lions. . . And tigers. . . And bears (OH MY! Bees playing the tuba? Beautiful fl...
