East of Eden

Tuesday, February 14, 2012. As I've said before, I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, but I do love me some heart shaped things. Here's a little something I've been working on. I was hoping to be finished by today, but no such luck. Things have been oddly busy around here. And I've developed an unsettling addiction to Pinterest which has significantly slowed me down as far as finishing any projects are concerned. Soon I'll do the full reveal. Sunday, January 15, 2012. Various worsted scrap yarns used.

East of Eden: September 2011

http://reneeseastofeden.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 22, 2011. Has it really been almost a month since my last blog post? Well, but I have actually been busy. For real! First I made this blanket for a friend who is expecting a boy in mid-October. Can you tell this blanket is for a boy? I usually try to be a little less obvious about using traditional gender colors because. 1 I sort of hate pastels and. 2 I just love doing the unexpected when it comes to baby stuff, it's just way more fun. I also knitted some booties. I live in Houston, ...

East of Eden: June 2011

http://reneeseastofeden.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 20, 2011. South Bay Shawl reveal! This summer has been crazy so far, what with home improvements to be done and high school reunions to attend. But things seem to be slowing back down again. So let's all hope that I actually start blogging more often again. Here's the finished project that I teased you all with in the last post:. Pattern is called the South Bay Shawlette. I used two different kinds of yarn, both cotton. The two darker colors were Omega Sinfonia. We LOVE our new floors! WP8 D...

East of Eden: October 2011

http://reneeseastofeden.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 12, 2011. I wish I were one of those bloggers who could pound out a blanket every 2 weeks. Or that I had something fabulous to show you every single time I blog. Unfortunately, I'm still working on this chevron blanket and it is slooowww goooooiiinng. This one is a gift for the parents of a friend who lost everything they had when their house burned down this summer. Here it is again, draped over my legs while I work on it:. The next one I make is going to be MINE! Even though i do lov...

East of Eden: Slippers!

http://reneeseastofeden.blogspot.com/2012/01/slippers.html

Sunday, January 15, 2012. I have been trying to write this post for the past week or two. I've started on it 3 or 4 times, and then something distracts me or I just don't feel like it so I think, okay, I'll do it tomorrow. then repeat. I don't have much to actually say, I guess. So, I'm just gonna show you these slippers I made as Christmas gifts. Various worsted scrap yarns used. Size 9 Circular needles with yarn doubled throughout. To show me how and I was so surprised by how wonderfully easy it was!

East of Eden: February 2011

http://reneeseastofeden.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Well, I'm in a bit of slump. A creativity slump, brought on, I think, by mild exhaustion. The husband was gone for 3 weeks on business and it's always just a little too crazy around here for crafting when it's just me and Mr. Boy. Husband is back now, but I'm still in a slump. In the past 3 weeks this is all I've managed to finish:. So I have this one done (the picture shows front and back) and I'm not even all that thrilled with it. It's ok. It's meh. I've been playing around...

The Art of 50: Comfort.

http://wzppd.blogspot.com/2012/09/comfort.html

The Art of 50. Wednesday, September 19, 2012. I love to crochet. There is something just very relaxing about it. Trying to explain this is very difficult. And I get asked a lot why I do it. It seems that there is a belief that something is not worth doing unless there is some tangible reason. The answer "just because" is not good enough. There is a snarky (no! Side of me that wants to ask my questioners. Why do you watch tv? We all have different ways we find comfort. This is my form of comfort. My Daugh...

The Art of 50: Home.

http://wzppd.blogspot.com/2012/09/home.html

The Art of 50. Friday, September 14, 2012. I needed a vacation.a break. A refresher before plunging back into school. And what promises to be a demanding student teaching schedule. So off to Vegas we went. Where we enjoyed some of this. And some time with this one. In the end I am not sure it was really much of a break. Vegas is always, well, hectic. Clearly the highlight of the trip, for me anyways, was Lily time. And then we headed home. Where my sinuses started feeling normal. View my complete profile.

The Art of 50: April 2012

http://wzppd.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

The Art of 50. Saturday, April 7, 2012. He makes all things new. I believe in God. I believe in the risen Christ. I know not every one believes as I do. But I still believe it. It is at the very core of my being. It is a faith I cannot fully explain. But it is my faith. It is something that no one can take away. On the eve of the celebration of the risen Christ, I share this clip. A scene from the movie The Passion of the Christ. This scene breaks my heart every time I see it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Art of 50: Happiness.

http://wzppd.blogspot.com/2012/09/happiness.html

The Art of 50. Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Lately, I've been a little down in the dumps. I've tried (although not successfully) to avoid the news. And I stayed away from The Facebook for a few days. The reasons for my melancholy? Well that is for another day. Today, I want to focus on happiness. Because when I get a little down.there are a few things that can always lift my spirits. A pile of granny squares. A relaxing day by the pool with a little lime concoction. A sweet baby face. At the end of the day.

The Art of 50: October.

http://wzppd.blogspot.com/2012/10/october.html

The Art of 50. Sunday, October 7, 2012. Yes It is now seven days into the month and I am finally blogging. About the month of October. In most places around the country October means the leaves have changed color and there is the first bite of a frost in the air. In Arizona it means that the thermometer might finally dip below 100, and I put an emphasis on the word "might". There have been some years where we were almost three weeks into October before we saw the end of 100 degree days. Not fun.

http://wzppd.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

The Art of 50. Wednesday, September 26, 2012. The last few days have been a busy blur. My life has taken a new turn. After more than two years of sleeping in and hanging out around the house,. I am now up at the crack of dawn again. I am donning more formal attire (well, sort of) and heading back out into the world. I am not quite a working girl (no, it's not what you are thinking! But I am hoping this step takes me back into that direction. What I am doing is something totally new and different. The mos...

The Art of 50. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Just Cuz I Like to Keep Things Real. I remember it was not so long ago that I'd gather with girlfriends and our conversions would encompass the mundane, yet the oh so important, topics of kids, fashion, decorating, recipe exchanges, and the latest workout fad at the gym. Actually, these topics are still part of our repetoire. However, they take a back seat to something that is far more at the forefront of our minds these days. The subject was.chin hairs.

The Art of 50: August 2012

http://wzppd.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

The Art of 50. Friday, August 17, 2012. I was in my craft room the other day enjoying some rare (as of late) creative therapy and listening to the radio. At one point the weather person came on the air to share the weekly weather outlook. If you have ever lived in Arizona or even driven through during the summer, the weather forecast should be a no-brainer. It's going to be HOT! But what the weather person said made me chuckle. A cooling trend of 108! Yes, I said October. There is no sun worshiping here ...

Sew Loved By You: March 2012

http://sewlovedbyyou.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 5, 2012. It has been so long! I'm currently finishing up a big quilt project for a first grade class. I'm excited to show you all the finished quilts. Here are some badly taken, iPhone photos. They give you an sneak peek to the final product. I did some fabric printing, using items I had on hand. I can't wait to share the technique. It was super easy and opens up a lot of opportunities. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sew Loved By You. Promote Your Page Too. Open House is on Saturday!
