Stray Carrier Pigeon: Veggie Month: Spinach
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2010/02/veggie-month-spinach.html
Friday, February 26, 2010. Shown minus the first of many pieces that would be eaten tonight.). I made this recipe in December for my end-of-class party. The students ate the whole thing, so Bryan didn't get to try it. Tonight, he had two servings. (Me, too.). The only changes I made to this recipe. Were to use egg whites and skip the butter. It still had enough good stuff to make it tasty- cheese and a pie crust- but wasn't too dense like quiche can sometimes be. Posted by Michelle Panik.

Stray Carrier Pigeon: May 2009
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2009. With Apologies to Screenwriters. This morning I read. 160;a book about a boy who gives his sister a "makeover". With permanent markers and chewing gum. The story alternates between the boy's mother scolding him, and other people the boy knows who've made mistakes, too. It's like a series of cinematic jump cuts, and the only way you know which scene you're in is a subtle background difference. It was really confusing. This cinematic element reminds me of Richard Russo's. Looks at se...

Stray Carrier Pigeon: March 2010
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 5, 2010. Head over to Significant Objects. To read my friend Lakin's. Story about a paper fan that, like a pet-store puppy, she had to take home. (No, I don't condone pet stores selling animals. But I do condone artistic license and simile). Then, head on over to my new website, MichellePanik.com. And check out my latest blog entry, which includes a link to an article. I wrote for TCSD's. Posted by Michelle Panik. Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Veggie Month: The Month After. I am a freelance wri...

Stray Carrier Pigeon: Veggie Month: The Month After
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2010/03/veggie-month-month-after.html
Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Veggie Month: The Month After. Sure, I might not have blogged on February 27, but rest assured that, along with Veronika, I ate fried green tomatoes here. This month-long experiment had a bigger effect on me than I'd anticipated in late January. I thought I'd improve my knife skills, patronize new sections of Vons' produce section, and have some tasty meals. I think this will change the way I cook and eat. And I'm all the better for it. Posted by Michelle Panik. Might you have a...

Stray Carrier Pigeon: Veggie Month: Opo Squash
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2010/02/veggie-month-opo-squash.html
Sunday, February 28, 2010. Veggie Month: Opo Squash. Apparently opo squash is used in Asian cooking. I made an Italian-style dish that was a rif on this recipe. I used jar pasta sauce, and included carrots. It reminds me of the ratatouille my family used to get at Rosine's. The opo squash tastes a lot like eggplant. This would probably be good over pasta, or with ground turkey, but I ate it alone. Has a saute pan ever been so well documented in such a short amount of time? Posted by Michelle Panik.

Stray Carrier Pigeon: June 2009
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2009. It Rolls off the Tongue. My TESOL class observations have started back up. I was previously sitting in on an advanced class, but this time decided to see what one filled with beginners is like. Last night, the takeaway was an emphasis on pronunciation: there is a big difference between tequ ila. And it also changes a lot if someone has nine. Children, or none. Posted by Michelle Panik. Stray Carrier Pigeon: March 2009
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Sometimes, when someone really wants you to know something, they don't tell you. They let you discover it. In the freshman comp class I'm TAing, a student turned to me today and asked, "Want to read my paper? The paper was about his experience being an ethnic minority gay man in the military who'd been raised Catholic and is currently in a relationship with another gay serviceman. It discusses the possible consequences Proposition 8. Could have on him, if upheld. Overseen at Star...

Stray Carrier Pigeon: Veggie Month: Radishes
http://straycarrierpigeon.blogspot.com/2010/02/veggie-month-radish.html
Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Let's just say I wouldn't make these. Again It's not that they're completely terrible- they're coated in chili powder, garlic salt, and paprika- but they aren't exactly tasty, either. Nor are they terribly crisp.
