Le village, peuplé de 171 habitants permanents, s'étend d'une altitude de 876 mètres au niveau de la rivière à 3156 mètres à la Tête de Vautisse, point culminant de l'Embrunais. La commune n'a pas de chef-lieu nettement marqué et est composée d'une quinzaine de hameaux installés plein Sud, face au soleil.
