Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling: A retreat into the kitchen
http://bmaggard.blogspot.com/2010/11/retreat-into-kitchen.html
Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling. Journals are so last year. Monday, November 15, 2010. A retreat into the kitchen. I make excuses to myself for the writing. I think about how I need to move over to fiction, but I have no characters, nobody alive in my brain except the me me me. I even jotted down some notes on the bus a few days ago. I wrote a little elegy for my grandpa on his birthday in mid-October. I’ve maintained good conversations and I’ve read some great books. Andrea Literature = Love.

Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling: June 2010
http://bmaggard.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling. Journals are so last year. Sunday, June 13, 2010. We have the internet now! We've been without since Memorial Day, and here's something I wrote in the meantime that I thought would make a good blog. Title coordinates to the below: I would never forget my internet purchase. 8220;Do you need a bag? 8221; the girl had asked after a particularly flustered transaction. I’d spoken softly and dropped the pen and any other number of insignificant gestures. 8220;Purchased for...

Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling: Volcanoes and Grocery-Store Tulips
http://bmaggard.blogspot.com/2010/04/volcanoes-and-grocery-store-tulips.html
Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling. Journals are so last year. Monday, April 19, 2010. Volcanoes and Grocery-Store Tulips. So I sucked it up and stayed in London.sounds tough, I know. I got home and divvied the flowers up in the kitchen and common room. No one had arrived home from work yet, so I was quite pleased with myself, the empty house, and the flowers and curry supplies. The food went over famously, but standing in the kitchen with three males, all of a sudden, I found my tulips being mocked!

Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling: February 2009
http://bmaggard.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling. Journals are so last year. Monday, February 16, 2009. Meatloaf Cupcakes and Everything that Followed. I had a dear friend in town this weekend. It being Chicago in February, we did what any sensible fun-seekers would do: we ate. Uncontrollably. Saturday involved brunch (quiche and juevos mexicanos and omelettes, oh my), a trip to the Garfield Park Conservatory, hot dogs, and a gourmet dinner at home- French onion soup broiled with baguette and jarlsberg, and a medioc...

Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling: May 2009
http://bmaggard.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Holding Out For That Teenage Feeling. Journals are so last year. Sunday, May 31, 2009. I could apologize for my long hiatus from blogging, but we all know it wouldn't matter. Most people can't be minding too terribly that I've been two months absent. So even on this sleepy Sunday night, I'm keeping the panic at bay. It's ok that I can't picture what the next year will look like. I was wrong about the last two, and they've successively been the best yet. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Andrea Literature = Love.

Cornucopia: January 2015
http://ermasmit-again.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 29, 2015. Too Sweet to be ignored. What goes up, must come down, right? Thankfully, most people will never experience the Hyde side of Curtis. And the infrequency makes it nearly negligible. This sunshine, love of a child brightens everyone's day. Even his teachers will admit so. Also, I've been told he has at least 2 girlfriends in his current preschool class (as reported by the girls, of course. Like Curtis remembers names! Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Gender: Two ways about it. Don't...

Cornucopia: August 2014
http://ermasmit-again.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 25, 2014. Cicada, Bacada, Pitata. Curtis is not good with names. We've known this for a really long time. It's been a running joke. His pick up line is, "Hey, what's your name? But now, I believe he is setting the stage for the future. He knows he won't remember names, so if he always asks, maybe people won't know he's actually dead serious. Oh Curtis! It's a princess kiss, dad." Look out lucky ladies (or gents), you have a pretty intense kiss coming your way. Thursday, August 14, 2014.

Cornucopia: July 2014
http://ermasmit-again.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 13, 2014. They never chatted with friends while park or poolside? Flipped through a magazine? I don't use my phone during meals. I try not to use it while socializing with friends, but will when everyone else takes a moment for "phone time". Ok, sometimes I kickstart "phone time" but others follow! Tuesday, July 8, 2014. I can see how much he is drinking. On top of 3 baby food meals a day, he drinks four 8oz bottles. That is 32ozs! Monday, July 7, 2014. Every morning, Brock comes into our be...

Cornucopia: The Temporary Tattoo.
http://ermasmit-again.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-temporary-tattoo.html
Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Curtis wanted a tattoo. Three. Days. Ago. We have this little booklet full of them. Hundreds. Matt put on a few. George had on a couple. I think even Mitch and Brock had a tattoo. In fact, Curtis might have had one, but he wanted another. Seems simple enough? I finish feeding the baby.". I clean up the dog puke.". I finish fixing lunch (or dinner, or breakfast, or getting snack.)". I change Mitch's poopie diaper.". I change Diana's diaper.". I help George on the potty.". That ta...
