Birding Dad: March 2015
http://birdingdad.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, 23 March 2015. Peregrine - Wigeon- Buzzard epic. Peregrine v Wigeon v Buzzard. Amazing view of a Peregrine that has caught a drake Wigeon just outside Swantail Hide at Wheldrake Ings yesterday afternoon. The Wigeon valiantly tried to escape, being saved by the arrival of a local Buzzard which seemed to really enrage the falcon, which left it's half drowned meal and started mobbing the larger raptor. A few recent shots from Askham Bog etc attached with new 50D. Monday, March 23, 2015. Most of my t...

Birding Dad: Finally meeting the Duke
http://birdingdad.blogspot.com/2015/05/finally-meeting-duke.html
Saturday, 16 May 2015. Finally meeting the Duke. Today, Sol and me got the chance to hook up with Rich and Dan and try not just for Dukes, but Pearl-bordered Fritillaries, two butterflies I have never seen. Even Sol was excited! Some very nice Early Purple Orchids nearby too. The top three photos below are of a female (I think! And the bottom two of a darker male (again, I think! Sol leading Rich and Dan astray. Birding Dad: November 2014
http://birdingdad.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, 30 November 2014. Top weekend of excessive booze celebrating in Suffolk for ex-pat Yorkshire birder Dunc's 40th Birthday. Nipped out with Rich and Gaynor to have a look at Westleton Heath on Saturday morning where we soon found flitty and skulky Dartford Warblers. There seemed to be plenty around with probably c10 individuals seen. Also a couple of Stonechats on the heath. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Friday, 28 November 2014. A Taste of Norfolk. Wanstead Birder: July 2015
http://www.wansteadbirder.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Latterly mostly about travel. Friday, 24 July 2015. So what's been going on? Obviously there is never a dull moment at Chateau L, but there's not a lot to tell. This week however has been punctuated by two momentous twitches. Well, one momentous, one semi-pleasing. The first was a Green Sandpiper. On the deck. Although it was my 5th Green Sand. Please tell us it is not so? And if it is, please make sure to release some extra-special waders (or ducks) from your magic satchel before you go! If an instituti...

Birding Dad: August 2014
http://birdingdad.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 30 August 2014. Wheldrake Ings this lunchtime revealed two Whinchats still present from Swantail, a Hobby flushed from riverside willows, and c200 Teal, with three Wigeon. Sadly, I couldn't pick out a Garganey despite checking every white tail stripe. On to Rufforth where the gulls were showing well. Large numbers of Lesser Black-backs, mostly Graellsii. But a few blacker Intermedius. Including one that got me going as a possible Fuscus, though I decided it was just a small female Intermedius.
