http://undergrad-rhapsody.blogspot.com/2010/01/mesmerised-as-they-light-flame.html

In the event of my doing further study in the future, I'll consider writing about it here. Otherwise, all my posting is now over at litblog. Labels: artist: Pink Floyd. Its been fun. Thanks for writing. Ill continue reading LitBlog. January 19, 2010 at 12:50 PM. So long and thanks for all the fish. January 19, 2010 at 7:41 PM. View my complete profile.

litblog originals: Night by Linda Burgess

Commentary on posts from the original litblog. April 2000 to January 2004. Head over to the current litblog. Or see the full explanation here. Thursday, June 21, 2007. First published 19 February 2002. Within the first few lines. I don't think I've read it before, but I do know that Linda Burgess mentioned it in an interview that I heard. Because of this I already knew the basic plot of the story. What I remembered from the interview (or whatever it was that caused me to recognise the story) was Linda Bu...

litblog originals: Photographs of Pioneer Women by Ruth Dallas

Commentary on posts from the original litblog. April 2000 to January 2004. Head over to the current litblog. Or see the full explanation here. Wednesday, July 04, 2007. Photographs of Pioneer Women. First published 21 February 2002. This is a "photograph poem". I love writing from photographs. It's an excuse for nostalgia, and if you are patient, others' nostalgia is as interesting as your own. If you asked me now, I would say that others' nostalgia is far more. New on Undergrad Rhapsody.

litblog originals: Mid-Term Break by Seamus Heaney
http://litblog-originals.blogspot.com/2007/06/mid-term-break-by-seamus-heaney.html
Commentary on posts from the original litblog. April 2000 to January 2004. Head over to the current litblog. Or see the full explanation here. Tuesday, June 05, 2007. First published 13 February 2002. The title of this poem is very ironic, almost cynical, as the poem is about the death of a four-year-old, told from the point of view of his eldest brother - probably in his teens, as he talks about being at college. It didn't speak to me when I was 16, but yeah, I get it now. 8/06/07, 12:19 AM.

litblog originals: Big Brother, Little Sister by Witi Ihimaera

Commentary on posts from the original litblog. April 2000 to January 2004. Head over to the current litblog. Or see the full explanation here. Saturday, March 17, 2007. Big Brother, Little Sister. First published 16 February 2001. At the first reading I enjoyed Big Brother, Little Sister. The first paragraph grabbed me and as the story emerged I became more and more intrigued. The family scenes are good, but many of the street passages just don't make it. And only then did Big Brother, Little Sister.

litblog originals: It Was Long Ago by Eleanor Farjeon
http://litblog-originals.blogspot.com/2007/04/it-was-long-ago-by-eleanor-farjeon.html
Commentary on posts from the original litblog. April 2000 to January 2004. Head over to the current litblog. Or see the full explanation here. Sunday, April 15, 2007. It Was Long Ago. First published 4 February 2002. This poem is in 12 stanzas of three lines each, and perhaps the most striking feature of it is the strong use of repetition. Or, to be somewhat immature, how about the old woman herself? The rather structured nature of this response is undoubtedly my English teacher's fault. At the time ...

litblog originals: April 2007

Commentary on posts from the original litblog. April 2000 to January 2004. Head over to the current litblog. Or see the full explanation here. Monday, April 30, 2007. First published 7 February 2002. I love simple-looking poems. In this one, I particularly like "… a dad who shakes/the dust of Sunday from his feet". "mother's peeling five-day door" is also interesting. The father dislikes his children, that's the whole point of the freakin' poem, innit. The reader doesn't know if it is or not, of course, ...

litblog originals: September 2007
http://litblog-originals.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Commentary on posts from the original litblog. April 2000 to January 2004. Head over to the current litblog. Or see the full explanation here. Saturday, September 01, 2007. By Gerard Manley Hopkins. First published 3 March 2002. Very little, when you think of it. Even man-made things tend to have more than one colour. The poem has no point, no meaning, and doesn't tell me anything I didn't already know or make me think about anything in a new way. So I was hardly going to give the poem a fair hearing....
