Restoring Dignity to the Law

Restoring Dignity to the Law. Monday, October 3, 2011. A Closing Argument of Sorts. This will probably be my last entry at this particular blog address. This is something I've been mulling over for the last few months, and I think the time's right to put it out to the internet pasture for a number of reasons, only a few of which I'll get into here. The idea that they would rather assume young people are lazy, stupid, careless, greedy, etc. strikes me as shockingly cynical and inherently narcissistic.

Restoring Dignity to the Law: June 2011

http://restoringdignitytothelaw.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Restoring Dignity to the Law. Thursday, June 30, 2011. If you can stomach Elie Mystal's self-absorbed prose, I encourage people to check out this piece. On Above the Law about a Skadden associate in Los Angeles who died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 32 after working 100-hour weeks and suffering visible signs of stress "under intense pressure.". When your industry has a long-term trend of slashing costs? When you're expected to be on call 24/7? So as we head into Fourth of July, be thankful th...

Restoring Dignity to the Law. Monday, August 29, 2011. The Tennesseean Questions the Value of College; Future Law Student Doesn't Want to Listen. Is a great article from the Tennessean about the dubiousness - and awakening consciousness of said dubiousness - of the four-year college degree in the current economic climate. Just check out this gem of an excerpt:. College graduates “are typically worthless when it comes to programming and worthless when it comes to graphic design,” said Holland. Just so we'...

Restoring Dignity to the Law. Sunday, September 11, 2011. This Problem is Your Problem is Our Problem. In 2005-2007, I imagine a lot of people had a. I bring this to mind after reviewing the comments on articles like this. It seems there are a lot of idiots in this country who view the fraudulent nature of higher education - law school in particular - as an individual problem, one we should. If our attitudes towards greedy lawyers is one of antipathy, one in which we should find head-slapping entertainme...

Restoring Dignity to the Law. Tuesday, November 30, 2010. The New Normal; Can "Entreprenurial" Dayton Adjust? Great article from Claire Zillman at AmericanLawyer.com. After two years of turmoil, the nation's largest law firms are settling into a new normal. However, the law schools continue admitting students by the thousands even when their most notable practitioners have full cognizance that there is a massive oversupply of labor, so much so that elite students no longer have leverage. And yet law scho...

Restoring Dignity to the Law: Law Grad Wants FTC to Investigate Law Schools

http://restoringdignitytothelaw.blogspot.com/2011/06/law-grad-wants-ftc-to-investigate-law.html

Restoring Dignity to the Law. Friday, June 17, 2011. Law Grad Wants FTC to Investigate Law Schools. The only surprising thing about t. Is that the ABA Journal actually ran it. Apparently, Murray must not have "networked" enough at the 23rd-best law school. In the country to get a job that would compensate him enough to not think of writing this article. Not that I have much faith in the FTC, but it's nice to see people showing some creativity in finding ways the law schools have done wrong. Some day ...
