The NY Culture Vulture: August 2009
http://nyculturevulture.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
The NY Culture Vulture. A blog dedicated to the fine and performing arts in NYC and its environs. Monday, August 17, 2009. Dia: Beacon - The Opposite of a Love Affair. I love MASS MoCA. I hate Dia: Beacon. Both museums exhibit modern and contemporary art in rehabilitated and converted factories. My affection for the former and my distaste for the latter led to an important realization: I feel ambivalent about art from the second half of the 20. I’m never disappointed. So, by the time, I got to Dia: Beaco...

A quick succession of busy nothings". Adventures (in art conservation) in the wide world. Saturday, December 15, 2012. Gummy Kitty: Cordelia Cat has a Rough Month. Unless it was to the vet. Okay, we'd like to give her a tranquilizer so that we can do a proper thorough exam." Certainly! Dope that kitty up! The verdict: Cordie has a number of foul teeth that need to be removed. Her blood test comes back all well, so we're set to get the offending chompers extracted. Is that a red pillow? Everyone at work d...

http://busynothings-jk.blogspot.com/2013/03/ferns.html
A quick succession of busy nothings". Adventures (in art conservation) in the wide world. Wednesday, March 27, 2013. New Zealand is all about ferns. Specifically the silver fern. Check out the image below. It's the International Symbol for New Zealand (I'm making that up). But in real life it is a self-selected symbol of New Zealand, especially for their international athletic teams. Because the whole place is covered. In ferns. See this list of ferns in New Zealand: thanks for the link, Te Papa! Simple ...

A quick succession of busy nothings". Adventures (in art conservation) in the wide world. Tuesday, February 26, 2013. An Update and a Promise. Where have I been? Mostly in my apartment, baking madeleines, hosting my own single-viewer Jane Austen film adaptation movie marathon, the usual. But more importantly, I was getting ready for a paper that my co-workers and I were going to present at a major conference in Wellington, New Zealand! Gratuitous appropriation of other peoples cultures.

A quick succession of busy nothings". Adventures (in art conservation) in the wide world. Sunday, March 3, 2013. Suitcase Woes, and Cable Car Fun. Going to New Zealand, you cross the international date line, so in addition to being on an airplane forever, you also loose an entire day. Once you reach your destination, you're very excited to get your things and clean up. A fine plan, as long as your suitcase arrives when you do. Funny thing, we'd have to stop in Kansas City to refuel, or else the flight wo...

"a quick succession of busy nothings": Wellington Eats
http://busynothings-jk.blogspot.com/2013/03/wellington-eats.html
A quick succession of busy nothings". Adventures (in art conservation) in the wide world. Friday, March 8, 2013. Start My. Day! That tea, along with the Spiky Melon and the Man Yogurt, was scored at the grocery store. Along with magnificent peaches, plums, and avocados. It was beautiful summer, so everything good was in season. The tea is more mild than English breakfast, and has a little bit of bergamot. Like English Breakfast and Earl Grey had a mild-mannered baby. Which is apparently with Heinz 57.

A quick succession of busy nothings". Adventures (in art conservation) in the wide world. Sunday, November 4, 2012. West Nile: This is Apparently Where You Get It. Phyllis and I wanted to chill out after our last day working, decompressing a bit before she had to catch her flight home. I had poked around the internet, and since we had such a nice time touring the Huntsville Botanical Garden, I hoped to find something similar in Jackson. Shouldn't they know better? Not for the faint of heart. Saturday, No...
