城下町 | 天空の城 越前大野城

大野の城下町は、この信長の初期親衛隊 小姓衆 赤母衣(あかほろ)衆 であった金森長近によってつくられました。 大野の地が長近に与えられた理由は、この当時、信長は度重なる 信長包囲網 によって全国の戦国大名を相手に苦戦を強いられており、東海から北陸へのルートを 岐阜城 郡上八幡城 越前大野城 によって統治下に置いて、この包囲網を分断することが目的だったと考えられます。 天正3年 1575 、大野郡3万石( お米で約4500t)の領主となった長近は、亀山山頂と東の麓に城 天守閣、二の丸、三の丸 を築き、さらにその東側に城下町を展開しました。 このように半矩形で整備された城下町を 梯郭 ていかく 式 といいます。 また、町人屋敷は東西 南北それぞれ6筋の通りによって短冊形に区切られ、 北陸の小京都 と呼ばれています。 長近が築いた天守閣は小高い山上に築かれている 平山城 であることから、敵の攻勢を防ぐ 防衛施設 として建てられたことがわかります。 大野の大手道 城主が通行する道路 は、現在、朝市が開かれている 七間 しちけん 通り ですが、この大手道には、短冊形に区割りされた区画の短辺 南北面 が面しています。
