Rev. Gil

Tuesday, September 30, 2008. This is a short poem I wrote for worship today:. We worship a God who in heaven resides,. He is not in one single place. Where ever we go, he is by our sides,. And he knows our name and our face. So think about that, where ever you go,. Let the world see Jesus in all you uphold. Otherwise, how are they going to know,. His love is more precious than gold. Rev. Gil: March 2008

http://revgil.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 05, 2008. In Sickness and in Health. On December 4th of last year, I took my wife Gay to the hospital with 4 sores on her legs. Little did I know then what the next four months would be like. School was supposed to start a few days after we got back, but my first day of class was snowed out which gave me more of a chance to recover. I started back to school, but I still had a lot of work from the previous semester to get caught up on. For family and friends, please let me know if you are...

Rev. Gil: Where their loyalties lie????

http://revgil.blogspot.com/2008/09/where-their-loyalties-lie.html

Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Where their loyalties lie? The office of Alaska Governor, and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, has decided it will not cooperate in the investigation into whether or not Palin fired the state's public safety commissioner after he refused to fire a state policeman who was divorcing her sister. This is according to this cnn report. There are several quotes in the report I have serious problems with. Consider the following:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Enter your...

Rev. Gil: November 2007

http://revgil.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 15, 2007. I have not posted an update for quite a while. I am nearly halfway through my final year of Divinity School at Wake Forest University, and I have just been extremely busy and doing more writing is one of the last things I want to do. So, here's what has been going on. There is a lot of energy in the class even though we have been discussing stewardship! I have registered for my classes for next semester, and my schedule looks like this:. Gender and Family in Early Christianity.

Rev. Gil: June 2007

Friday, June 22, 2007. How Blogs Can Change the World. The post before this one talks about Southeastern and I guess the search at AOL picked up on that. I just thought it was really cool! And, it goes to show the power of blogging and how it is possible for a single blogger to have a pretty large voice on the internet. You can click on the link above to see a picture of the page. Thursday, June 21, 2007. Putting Some Legs on Our Theology. Pennington-Russell, 46, is currently senior pastor of Calvary Bap...

March 6, 2012. I believe that our Church must be open to all possibilities in order to bring premarital counseling importance to the awareness of its parishes and its children. I started doing premarital counseling in my church recently. I use the PREPARE-ENRICH inventory which helps focus premarital counseling on issues that are present for a particular couple. The PREPARE-ENRICH has been also effective in classifying different types of couples. Lent, Opportunity to Reconnect Part 2. February 17, 2012.

Knittin' and Preachin'. A few missed dance moves; Yet Grace Abounds! September 23, 2016. Inside St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. First I can’t believe how long it’s been since I blogged – I need to find a way to keep up a better schedule. Secondly, I was blessed to preach at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. Now the (I know it’s out of sync, but I promise I followed the service as it was supposed to be) liturgy and I’m not sure where to stand so I just stood in the middle of the chancel area. Gary, Frankly Speaking | Personal musings of a retired pastor experiencing God in everyday life.

Gary, Frankly Speaking. Personal musings of a retired pastor experiencing God in everyday life. October 17, 2011. Last Monday morning my cell phone rang. My friend and fellow pastor Dean Reed was calling. He asked me if I were flexible. Flexible is my middle name. It’s what the F stands for. It’s the same as my father. I remember the Saturday mornings that he would walk in and announce that we were heading to Dallas for an SMU football game. The only possible conflict on my calendar was a Lay Leadership ...

The blog of Pastor Paul Gilbert. When I was in seminary over 20 years ago, I took a pastoral counseling class that still reverberates in my heart and life to this day. One of the things that we had to do was to complete something marriage and family counselors call, a genogram. Lest you confuse this with the riveting family game know as Jenga, let me explain. To help you develop healthier patterns of relating in the present. Third, and most importantly, it gave me a vision for how God would have me learn...

Living in the question...

Living in the question. The point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.' RAINER MARIA RILKE. Letters to a Young Poet. Thursday, 27 March 2014. Can art be a spiritual pastime? Can art be a spiritual pastime - that really is the question that has been uppermost in my thoughts over the past months and is the question I appear to be living right now? Because of this I wondered if I would find the same...
