A summary of my trip to Ethiopia, March, 2007. Monday, September 13, 2010. Trek into the Simien Mountains, Part 3. On the morning of the fifth day of our trek in the Simien Mountains of Ethiopia, we leave the camp at Chenek and hike over the Eastern Escarpment. Skirting north of Mount Bwahit, we descend into the valley of the Mesheba River, heading to the village of Ambikwa. Ambikwa is the base camp for most trekkers who plan to climb Mount Ras Dashen.
