The Leduc RepBlog: November 2009
http://leducrepblog.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 20 November 2009. Confessions of a hardcore bookworm. There's nothing better than a good book. The other night, I finished John Irving's A Night in Twisted River. And let out a huge sigh. While I was excited to reach the end of the book, I didn't want the novel to end. I have been waiting for this, Irving's 12th novel, since he wrote Until I Found You. In 2005 and one week after I had purchased it, the book found its place alongside his others on my bookshelf. And A Thousand Splendid Suns. Are wr...

The Leduc RepBlog: February 2012
http://leducrepblog.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Friday, 3 February 2012. Super Sunday is almost here. It’s a day hardcore and mediocre football fans, half-time show and commercial enthusiasts find a television set to sit around for three plus hours to watch what is more than just a football game these days. But I’m not going to focus on the commercialism that is the Superbowl. I’m going to focus on the most important part that should be pretty obvious, but isn’t to some — the game. Is a crazy play like that one going to happen again this year? This ye...

The Leduc RepBlog: January 2012
http://leducrepblog.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 3 January 2012. Another year is upon us, which means it's time for people to start adhering to their New Year's "resolutions.". I put "resolutions" in quotations, because most people who choose one or several aspects of their life they would like to change don't actually follow through, and therefore don't resolve that aspect of their life they wanted to. According to studies, of those who vow to make changes in their lives beginning each year, only 12 per cent actually succeed in doing so.

The Leduc RepBlog: January 2010
http://leducrepblog.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 22 January 2010. I have a framed photo I took in Haiti. I spent a week there in early 2008, tagging along with an NGO as they negotiated the development of a new medical facility on the Haiti-Dominican Republic border. I took the photo in Port-au-Prince, looking down a steep hill onto an alleyway lined with concrete facades. The green mountainside in the background is barely visible through a haze of smoke, and its lower reaches are a patchwork of cinderblock homes. My reaction surprised me. ...

The Leduc RepBlog: The importance of remembering the possible effects of severe weather

Thursday, 9 August 2012. The importance of remembering the possible effects of severe weather. The importance of remembering the possible effects of severe weather. This summer, especially the month of July, has been marked with severe storm after severe storm hammering the capital region. The frequent amount of tornado warnings is unusual as Alberta only averages 10 tornadoes a year, with just one having the possibility of reaching violent proportions. Dr Harold Brooks, a U.S. researcher on torn...The o...

The Leduc RepBlog: The spirit of giving is strong in Leduc
http://leducrepblog.blogspot.com/2011/12/spirit-of-giving-is-strong-in-leduc.html
Wednesday, 21 December 2011. The spirit of giving is strong in Leduc. Year after year, I am always surprised by the things people do for Christmas gifts. Parents go out of their way to find the specific toy of the season for their child, spouses search high and low to find that ‘perfect’ gift for their significant other. Then there are those who give more than just a gift card by donating their time or making a financial donation to a non-profit group. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Things have fina...
