In order to understand what makes the Schelde so turbid, and why the turbidity changed recently, we went on a cruise with the NIOZ research vessel ‘the Navicula’ from 28 April till 1 May 2014. Early diagenetic model describing the cycle of O, N, C in marine sediments. Implements a simplified version of the bacterivory model. Implements the Standard DEB model simulating the growth of the blue mussel. The next model application is a very simple one that describes how a tracer, injected as labeled glucose, propagates through a food web. Such simple models are efficient tools to quantify how much a certain organism relies on a particular food source (here bacteria).
