Berg's world: Egypt
http://acberg.blogspot.com/2007/12/egypt.html
Tuesday, December 11, 2007. My new bedoiun buddy. Entrance to the Valley of the Kings. Heiroglyphics at Queen Hatshepsut's temple. I made my final visa run of the year last week by going to Egypt. As usual, I only had a few days, not nearly enough to explore a culture as rich as the Egyptians. I flew into Cairo, the world’s 16th largest city with a population of about 20 million. A friend had set me up with a great travel agent, Harty Tours. And if you ever get the chance, I highly recommend them. Right ...

Berg's world: April 2007
http://acberg.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 29, 2007. One the subject of fast food chains, I broke down and at a McDonald’s last week. My new Iranian friends took me to get a cell phone and afterwards wanted to go to dinner at McD’s. I haven’t eaten at a McDonald’s for lunch or dinner in while I don’t know how long. But I was glad I went because I got to try the new McArabia. I had never heard of the McArabia and it was actually pretty good. Sunday, April 22, 2007. What a crazy week! The few sites I did get to see were from the car o...

Berg's world: SUMO!
http://acberg.blogspot.com/2008/03/sumo.html
Monday, March 31, 2008. Highest ranked rikishi entering the ring. The little guy won! Seoul Museum of what? I had to go somewhere for a visa run two weeks ago and thought it would be fun to go to a Sumo tournament. So I got online and checked to see if one was going on in Japan. Luckily, there was one in Osaka. So I booked a plane ticket and was there the next night. With long tassels at each corner representing spring, summer, fall, and winter. The rikishi are ranked into five divisions. Are ranked and ...

Berg's world: September 2007
http://acberg.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Burj al-Arab ceiling and balconies. Life is still hot, dry, and dusty in Kuwait. But I think (hope) the 50°C temps are gone for the year. It’s still in the mid 40’s everyday (110’s Fahrenheit) but at least I don’t burn myself on the steering wheel driving home from work at night. So two weekends ago, a friend of mine from Chicago, met up with me in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Is being built there. It became the world’s tallest building in July and it isn’t ...A lot of the ...

Berg's world: Kilimanjaro 2 - Berg 0
http://acberg.blogspot.com/2008/03/kilimanjaro-2-berg-0.html
Monday, March 3, 2008. Kilimanjaro 2 - Berg 0. Guides and porters for Kili. Porter carrying Craig's bag. Black and white colobus monkey. In January, 2006, I went to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I had been in Kenya for 2 weeks prior to visiting Tanzania. 3 days into my climb, I started to get sick and was diagnosed with malaria. And pneumonia. I figured this had to be a fluke occurrence and vowed to revisit and mountain and make it to the summit. That puts together the design and drawing packages fo...

Berg's world: January 2008
http://acberg.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Home and back again. I guess it is three weeks after the fact but I probably haven’t spoken to you since December 31 so it probably still applies. I’ve been back in Kuwait for almost three weeks and my trip home seems like a dream because it’s almost like I never left here. But I did have a great 3 week intermission from the Middle East. Italy, home, Iceland, and back…. In the few days I was there, I had spaghetti carbonera cooked by an Italian grandmother (DELICIOUS! So back i...

Berg's world: August 2007
http://acberg.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 22, 2007. Testing the acoustics of the South Theater. Elephants in the Siq. View from the High Place. The Treasury at night. Only handrail in Petra. Floating in the Dead Sea. Is a relatively small country in the Middle East, bordering Israel, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia about a 90 minute flight from Kuwait. It may not sound like the most welcoming place but I found it is a beautiful country with great people. I decided earlier this year that I wanted to visit Petra. This wa...

Berg's world: May 2007
http://acberg.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 28, 2007. Korea turned out to be a lot more fun than I expected. Most of that had to do with how nice the Korean people are. They went out of their way to make sure I enjoyed myself in their country. A couple people took me out to dinner one night where we cooked pork and vegetables on a skillet at our table. All during the meal, we drank Soju. List to experience part of the tradition of the day. The first temple we went to was the Seokguram Grotto. The second temple was the Bulguksa Temple.

Sunday, July 27, 2008. The last four months. Leper King terrance entrance. Ta Phrom tree (favorite temple in Cambodia). Angkor Wat reflecting pool. Other type of Cambodian gas station. I swear this picture wasn't staged. I don’t know where the last 4 months have gone. It has been busy but I should have been putting up blogs. This has been my travel itinerary since the last time I posted a blog:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The last four months. View my complete profile.
