Rhinoa's Adventures: March 2011
http://rhinoasadventures.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
A sneak peak into my life. Monday, March 28, 2011. Day out in Witley. The weather was so nice last week I thought I'd take advantage of it yesterday and go for a spontaneous day trip to a nice country pub. My specifications were it had to be in a village within an hours drive. After doing a quick google search I found White Hart Inn in Witley. I talked into hubby into coming and paying for lunch if I did the driving. Thought this would amuse any Americans out there :). Such pretty houses and shapes.

Rhinoa's Adventures: September 2011
http://rhinoasadventures.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
A sneak peak into my life. Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Happy birthday to me. Sunday was my birthday (I'm not saying how old I turned). I had a but of a grump leading up to it as I've really gone off getting older. I remember when I was younger being so excited and proud of being a whole year older, now I want the years to go backwards. Look my boobies are made of cupcakes! They tasted very yummy ;). My husband looks like he's eating the legs. I've been wanting to try it and see if it has any benefit f...

Don Quixote and the Invention of the Modern Novel. Monday, Jul 30 2007. So, I’ve finally knight-erranted my way to the end of the first part of. I’m not quite at the mid-point of my copy yet (I have about 50 pages to go) but very nearly. Is it too much to say I’m proud of myself? And its place in the history of literature. Of course, I’m familiar with the idea that. Anthony J. Cascardi addresses the ‘invention of the novel’ idea in an essay of the same name in the. Cambridge Companion to Cervantes. How co...

Storytelling «Tilting at Windmills Tilting at Windmills

Sunday, Jun 10 2007. Book I: Ch. 32 to 35. I really got a kick out of reading Chapter 32, the one mentioned above about the merits of chivalric romances; when the priest tells the story of how these romances turned DQ’s brain, the innkeeper launches into a defense of them:. Even the priest, trying hard to teach the innkeeper how to be a more sophisticated reader, ends up mixing fact and fiction, real life and literature himself. So when the priest tries to lecture the innkeeper on the uses of chivalric l...

Twisted Kingdom: May 2007

Maybe I can try and get into this another time but, for now, it's a DNF. This is my second novel based on the Tam Lin. Folk ballad and I must say I am extremely disappointed. I like the Tam Lin. Myth and I found this book extremely and utterly boring. Let's have the plot first from Amazon:. The plot and the fact that it's based on one of my favorite tales should have made this a great read. That and the praise that seems to follow this book everywhere. So what went wrong? Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

Outside of a Dog: June 2014

Outside of a Dog. Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Lucky Us by Amy Bloom. Rating: 3 stars (out of 5). Review: Reading this book felt a little like watching a silent movie: some jerky, indistinct action, interspersed with text that's supposed to illuminate the dialogue you can't hear, but doesn't necessarily help bring the story into focus. Why do others join the little group in New York? And yet, by the end of the book, I understood where the title came from, and what Bloom was trying to do. It was a satisfyi...
