Rhymes with Hungry

Wednesday, August 3, 2011. I take back all the bad things I've said about Kowloon. Your dining out habits change drastically when you have a toddler. You need to figure out where you can go where people don't care if:. 1) there is high pitched shrieking with your appetizer. 2) there is the possibility of thrown food. 3) someone runs up to a fellow diners' table and tries to climb into the booth. This is how we ended up dining at the Kowloon. And yes, there was high pitched shrieking. She was probably...

Rhymes with Hungry: May 2011

http://rhymeswithhungry.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Okay, so this isn't really about food, but it does demonstrate an alternative use for all your pantry items. A warning that this takes a little creativity and concentration. especially for an 18 month old budding executive chef! Labels: cooking with kids. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Made it then Ate it. Rhymes with Hungry: April 2011

http://rhymeswithhungry.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, April 30, 2011. Extra smart invertebrate salad. I hesitated a little since a former co-worker was always talking about how smart octopi are and how he would never eat one. I had some foresight and googled "octopus intelligence". After I made the salad. This video. Demonstrating octopus resourcefulness is pretty cool, but be forewarned that the music is really bizarre in a new-age sort of way. Julienne peeler worked it's magic, so I will continue to hold off on the mandoline purchase!

Rhymes with Hungry: Does American Chicken Taste Like Wood?

http://rhymeswithhungry.blogspot.com/2011/07/does-american-chicken-taste-like-wood.html

Sunday, July 3, 2011. Does American Chicken Taste Like Wood? Two of my co-workers are originally from China. They both mentioned to me over lunch the other day that when they first moved here, they thought that the chicken here tasted like wood. In order to get yummy tasting chicken they would often resort to buying fresh killed chickens from stores in Chinatown, such as Wings or Ming Kee. You can also get t-shirts from this place in Cambridge, Mayflower Poultry. I've got my eye on you! I found that seaf...

Rhymes with Hungry: Deep Fried Egg Topped Poutine @ Saus

http://rhymeswithhungry.blogspot.com/2011/07/deep-fried-egg-topped-poutine-saus.html

Sunday, July 17, 2011. Deep Fried Egg Topped Poutine @ Saus. I'm Canadian, so I know a good poutine when I see/ingest one. This is my second time dining at Saus. But the first time that I noticed the deep fried egg on the menu. I envisioned a battered and hard boiled egg that was dipped in the deep fryer, but boy was I wrong. E made the order and got us a Belgian Poutine topped with aforementioned egg and a waffle with salted caramel sauce. Such a pretty deep fried egg! Waffle was also delicious. Sal...

Rhymes with Hungry: Is it "Quack Quack" or "Coin Coin"?

http://rhymeswithhungry.blogspot.com/2011/06/is-it-quack-quack-or-coin-coin.html

Friday, June 24, 2011. Is it "Quack Quack" or "Coin Coin"? One of my friends who is from Switzerland and speaks Swiss German was telling me all the different ways that animals make noises in her country. I guess this all stems from the fact that our kids are at the age where one of the favourite past times is to teach them, "what does a monkey say? Ooh oooh ooh aah aah aah! Or "what does a dog say? Or is it "ruff ruff? So back to the ducks. On my way home last night, I stopped by Chinatown Cafe. Crucifer...

Meagan's World: Thanksgiving

http://meagans-world.blogspot.com/2008/11/thanksgiving.html

Thursday, November 27, 2008. Matt and I decided to eat Thanksgiving dinner at the Plimoth Plantation this year. It was sort of interesting, but we both agreed that in the end it is way more fun to spend Thanksgiving with friends and family. We haven't been home for Thanksgiving for SO many years.hopefully some day we will make it back. The food was ok, but nothing beats homecooking. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Meagan's World: December 2008

http://meagans-world.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 19, 2008. Last weekend my good friend Meredith had a tea party.it was so much fun.I am so sad to leave all my friends here! But, I am definitely not sad to leave the cold. It is getting colder by the minute.literally, there is a huge snow storm hours away that is supposed to bring an inch of snow a minute. Oy! I am happy to be leaving this place for nicer weather. Also, I look very pregnant in this photo. Don't get excited though.sadly, there is nothing I am not telling you.

Meagan's World: Update

http://meagans-world.blogspot.com/2008/11/update.html

Monday, November 10, 2008. So, I think probably most people that know Matt and I know that we do things late. Everything.we eat late, come to parties late, respond to emails and phone calls late, celebrate holidays late.so, in out usual style, we carved our Halloween pumpkins late (well into November! Hopefully I will be more punctual after I am out of school. It's not like I am asking him to change my diapers or something. But still, I am feeling really bad about this. Something could still work...Anywa...

Thursday, July 2, 2015. Mr Oscar Wild, Son. I have a wonderful son. He is sweet, cuddly, polite and easy going. He's also literally and figuratively hard-headed and knows precisely what he wants. Kind of sound- he really just wanted to be left in the cosiest possible nook and cranny he could find. I remember writing a letter to my daughter. When she turned two, and I had every intention of doing the same for my son but, more mommy guilt, life kinda got in the way. So here is my six-months-late letter...

Rhymes with Greer

Which is to say, pretty much everything. Think of words that rhyme with Greer. There are lots of things. Almost as many as the things in which I'm interested. This is where I spew about my dabblings. March 04, 2017. Mom came to visit a few weeks ago and very generously purchased for us a glider armchair for when the baby comes. We weren't sure we'd want to put one in our tiny apartment, but we cleared out a spot and decided it would work. March 04, 2017. December 27, 2016. We've been in Minneapolis this ...

Rhyming With History | A Cache of Collapsitarian Situational Awareness

A Cache of Collapsitarian Situational Awareness. July 12, 2015. Destroy The Old World, Build The New World. 8220;Destroy The Old World, Build The New World” That’s what it says on this poster from China’s Cultural Revolution. Compare and contrast with what the current resident of the White House claimed he would begin upon election in 2008: the fundamental transformation of this country. 8220;Where has Kirk been? 8221; you might be wondering. Observations from a Celtics fan living in the heart of enemy territory. Wednesday, October 30, 2013. I really should have ended it last year, when I started my new job; as is clear from the fact that I haven't posted since last February, I didn't really have time to devote to it. In my head, though, I thought we still had a chance, and I think a part of me didn't want to let Ray Allen dictate when I decided this era was over. A final note: Every year, there are officiating "points of emphasis," rules tha...

Musings on this whole married thing…. I’m just here to kick some ass and chew some gum, and I’m all out of gum…. The Five Stages of Loving a Black Eyed Peas Song. June 17, 2011. So there I am in my car on a hot Friday afternoon, my only music choice after a long day at work (doing important rocket scientist things) invariably is BEP. Rhymes With Idiot: Rantings of a Sane Lunatic

Rhymes With Idiot: Rantings of a Sane Lunatic. Tastes like coconut. And metal. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. I've just returned from another BotCon. It was a blast, to put it mildly and I'm still smiling- albeit a smidge sadly- remembering all that I've done. However, the one thing I didn't do was buy a lot of toys, which seems a little strange. After all, this is a Transformers convention; shouldn't toy-buying be at the top of the "to do" list? In my case, it's not about the toys. Links to this post. Now, the...

Sunday, December 6, 2009. Grading systems of élite high school teachers. A: What grade should M. get? Z: Is it his birthday? Links to this post. Friday, December 4, 2009. The letter I just wrote to the junior senator from my state. This is a duplicitous response. The Stupak amendment is much more far-reaching than the Hyde agreement and the Hyde agreement itself is a shameful government attempt to influence decisions best made by a woman in consultation with her doctor and family.
