Wednesday, January 28, 2009. The second question, "What do you do? Our prayers are not occasions for drunken self-indulgence - such prayers are abhorrent to God-but for sobriety. At these sacrifices prayers for the welfare of the community must take precedence of those for ourselves; for we are born for fellowship, and he who sets its claims above his private interests is specially acceptable to God" ( Against Apion. Thursday, November 13, 2008. Making Progress with Matthew. Regarding Matthew, I'm looking at the function of gift-giving in Matthew's gospel and this means I get to spend way too much time trying to work through Seneca's De Beneficiis. The question, which has some functional value for contemporary discussion, is whether or not one can have pure interests in giving a gift. Can a gift be given without an eye toward some sort of return? Anyway.sorry for just kind of throwing up a little bit on this post!

Wednesday, April 30, 2008. More Peter Enns fallout. Michael F. Bird sums up some of the more recent happenings involving Peter Enns' dismissal from Westminster. I think point #3. Is most troublesome. So, where do we put the Bible in relation to Christ? Well it looks like the Big-10 and the Pac-10 get their way once again. And why, if you're the Pac-10 and Big-10, does this not bother you more? 160;Oh, wait, I forgot! Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Need another reason to vote Obama? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Please do head over to Participatory Bible Study Blog. Henry Neufeld has written an excellent post about KJV-onlyism – a fascinating movement that’s more protective of their “1611” text than a good number of Muslim extremists are of the Koran. But the comma usage! My goodness, I don’t even know what it means! Look at that comma pair! March 31, ...

Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Rosson's review of Bird and Crossley. Loren Rosson recently posted a review of How Christianity Began. Here's a quote I found particularly interesting:. Obviously this is a Christianization of history. And, perhaps more obviously, such a statement draws ire from the academy at large. But, I personally don't find quite the dichotomy between theology and history as Rosson posits. Thursday, October 9, 2008. Friday, October 3, 2008. Tagged me on this one, so here goes:. On a side...

Wednesday, April 8, 2009. Getting back in the groove. Well it has been way too long since I've done anything at all on this blog! Anyway, I mainly wanted to say that my wife's new blog (did I mention I got married, can you use that as an excuse to blow off blogging? By the way, did I also mention that Carolina won the national championship? Nt gateway (mark go...
