The C and O Canal Trail and Great Falls Park (August 20, 2011). August 28, 2011. We anticipated no problems taking Sara’s road bike on the trail. The roughest spots were along the short but steep slopes beside the canal’s numerous small locks; in these places we had to walk. The Potomac River cascades over Great Falls. Forest along the gold mine trail.

Why I Bike: A Manifesto. May 31, 2015. For the month of May, I biked 158.19 miles in 16 days. This included the Tour de Cookie, Tour de DCPL, Bike to Work Day, and a week when I didn’t bike. I also ran 11 times for 31.60 miles, which included the Mother’s Day 5K. I’m taking time off work in June, which means not as many commuting miles. I am running another 5K, however. Tour de DCPL VI. Why I Bike: A Manifesto. Mother’s Day 5K 2015. May 11, 2015. Of the year. Here’s how it went down. Finally, we were corralled at the start. People running with strollers got a head start, and then the rest of the runners began several minutes later. It was a small crowd, but I tried to position myself at the end of the runners line and before the walkers. All in all, I felt pretty good throughout the entire run. I was pleased to see that I beat my previous time. By two minutes– a new PR! Tour de DCPL VII.

Why I Bike: A Manifesto. June 30, 2015. For the month of June, I biked 21.31 miles in 3 days. I also ran 8 times for 22.79 miles, which included the Pride 5K. Wow– that’s the first time I’ve ever run more than I’ve biked in a given month. I took the month off from work, which meant my commuting miles went out the window, and I didn’t do much riding beyond that. I’m back to work in July. July 2015 Stats →. Tour de DCPL VII.
