Four-Color Shadows: The Iron Skull-Carl Burgos-1939
http://fourcolorshadows.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-iron-skull-carl-burgos-1939.html
Sunday, May 17, 2015. The Iron Skull-Carl Burgos-1939. Carl Burgos didn't work for Timely. He worked for the Lloyd Jaquet shop that turned out stories for multiple companies. One of those companies had a title called AMAZING MAN which, in fact, featured, Bill Everett, Paul Gustavson, and other artists whose work would be familiar to Timely comics fans. This is one of the series he created around the same time he had done the earliest HUMAN TORCH stories. May 18, 2015 at 1:15 PM. RARE DVDS FOR SALE! Going...

Four-Color Shadows: Out of This World-Bernard Krigstein-1957
http://fourcolorshadows.blogspot.com/2011/01/out-of-this-world-bernard-krigstein.html
Friday, January 7, 2011. Out of This World-Bernard Krigstein-1957. Our unofficial Atlas Week continues with another amazingly inventive Bernie Krigstein story. By this point it was a given that Krigstein would be creative but note here the creative use of color, also. The artist himself or Atlas's regular colorist, Stan Goldberg? Whoever did it, it's clear that they took some time and it was worth it. Good stuff! January 12, 2011 at 11:18 PM. Nice little job- great color too. RARE DVDS FOR SALE! Balbo th...

Four-Color Shadows: August 2015
http://fourcolorshadows.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2015. I always hear Irma's voice from MY FRIEND IRMA (a radio show and a Timely comic book) when I read SUZIE's dialogue. Sunday, August 30, 2015. The Weird World of Dr. Strange-1966/1972. Marvel's Dr. Strange first appeared in 1963. This version- from Western (Gold Key) was originally published three years later, in 1966, and then reprinted here in 1972. I wonder if it's THIS version that Benedict Cumberbatch will be portaying on-screen in a year or so. Friday, August 28, 2015. Not ex...

Four-Color Shadows: April 2015
http://fourcolorshadows.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Seeing as how I sleep with one of those things over my nose these days, too, I'll either have nightmares tonight myself or perhaps pleasant dreams about this lovely early Atlas-era art from the always perfect Joe Sinnott. Sunday, April 26, 2015. Saturday, April 25, 2015. Sam Brown, Supersalesman-Harry Sahle-1949. It wasn't long after this when DC gave Bob his OWN A-list title, perhaps inspired by this low-budget B-movie short version of same. Thursday, April 23, 2015. Although ...

Sunday, August 2, 2015. Cave Man Curly-Joseph Sulman-1947. Sort of V.T. Hamlin meets Al Capp. Sulman did quite a bit of work for DC beginning in the 1930s but pretty much stayed under the radar. Four-Color Shadows: September 2014
http://fourcolorshadows.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. I'm sure the Timely/Atlas experts can probably recognize the rather distinctive art on this fairly atypical western story but I can't, nor could the GCD.Awfully fun to look at, though. Monday, September 29, 2014. Rustler at Large-Wallace Wood-1956. Sunday, September 28, 2014. Squat Car Squad-Gay Comics-1946. Saturday, September 27, 2014. Four-Color Shadows: June 2015
http://fourcolorshadows.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Definitely some lively cartooning going on here with that checkerboard outfit lending itself well to all the shenanigans. The sound effects lettering is somewhat inspired as well. Monday, June 29, 2015. By request, here's the story that Hydroman contacted Rainbow Boy about last time out. The latter only appears in cameo here although the two heroes did team up a number of times in HEROIC COMICS. Saturday, June 27, 2015. Friday, June 26, 2015. Thursday, June 25, 2015. I have been w...
