July 9, 2014. Riding in the Rain. It’s pretty easy. First, in the summer months, as unbearable as it might be, I ride with a full-face helmet. It affords the most protection from rain drops the size of walnuts. The next important piece of gear I wear is a set of Gore-Tex pants. They’re black, so they’re hot, but they have pockets that let me keep things like my iPhone high and dry. Plus, because of their adjustable pants cuffs, I can pull them on over boots. Dryzzle Jacket: $139.99 – 4 Stars. July 8, 2014.

Riding with my Son
Riding with my Son. Father and Son decide to race cyclocross in order to raise funds for our Veterans. Friday, August 2, 2013. The Nature of Things. Sometimes people ask me why I ride, or why I run or hike. The short answer is I am not sure. Something inside me wants me to be moving outside. I get antsy if I go for more than several days without some sort of physical activity outside of the usual work stuff. Heading up the hill near Clarion, PA. But aside from the physical world riding my bike, or someti...

Riding Without The Horse. In which I earn my sticky nickname. April 17, 2015. And I have fun pictures for you! So we had a combined test at the farm a few weeks ago – we have one every spring, and home shows traditionally do not go well for me (see video still that serves as my bio photo, stage right). This year we have many new school horses, and so when my trainer yelled at me for not entering said home show, I said go ahead and stick me on a school horse. Whatever. I have to be there anyway. Life, One Mile at a Time. Multiple times I would pass John Radich only to be overtaken by him later. Riding with Reason
Hello and Welcome to Riding With Reason. You may have heard it said that there is a reason for everything and that is so true especially when dealing with horses. A reason that they misbehave, a reason that they develop bad habits, a reason that they won’t or can’t work to their full ability whatever that may be. I have spent many years looking for that reason. Over time, I think that I have found my answer and, hopefully, a solution to the many issues that horses present to us. Enlightened Equitation wa...
