8220;There is nothing like a tomato sandwich now and then.” — Harriet the Spy. The 30 songs project. June 13, 2015. Yesterday, AJ put on a red cap and gown and graduated from middle school. Yesterday I conquered my nerves and took my very first guitar lesson. Yesterday it was hot enough to fry an egg on the street I have seen photographic evidence. The graduates were soaked through by the time they got into the church. My guitar was out of tune by the time I sat down to play. Tut, tut, looks like rain.

8220;There is nothing like a tomato sandwich now and then.” — Harriet the Spy. The 30 songs project. Vienna waits for you. May 27, 2015. It never occurred to me that these are all the same problem. I’m a person who needs to take things apart and learn how they tick. There can be no shortcuts. In my dissertation work, I got sucked into the endless vortex of archival research because I didn’t trust the shortcut of secondary literature. In all of these areas, what I like is to find my own tools. A guitarist...

8220;There is nothing like a tomato sandwich now and then.” — Harriet the Spy. The 30 songs project. July 12, 2015. After the next song, I was standing with my fiddle under my arm running the baroque concerto I was going to play for the offertory quietly. I felt a tug on my elbow. “Can I stand over here next to you? 8221; she asked. 8221; She nodded. We stood next to each other holding hands for the next song. 8220;What’s your name? 8221; I asked her afterwards. 8220;E.”. 8220;How old are you? At the pas...

What happened when he went his way and I went mine? I talked to the parent about our mutual friend and he told me they’d gone to college together. “And how do you know him? New York can feel like the world’s tiniest place. It is perhaps worth noting that I did not have the eggplant. Larr; Vienna waits for you.

Today I was going to write about something else entirely and I’ll probably post it someday. But not today. Today I’m going to tell you a couple of stories. Today I’m thinking about everyone who will feel this most and I’m happy for them. Tomorrow I’m going to be happy for me, because tomorrow, the world will be a little bit better than it was yesterday. 8220;There is nothing like a tomato sandwich now and then.” — Harriet the Spy. The 30 songs project. September 5, 2015. As I wrote in my last post, I’ve been interested in doing another music meme here, but existing suggestions don’t seem to be inspiring me. Instead, I think I’m going to build my own. It’s likely to be quirky and personal and maybe not suitable for others, but if you’d like to play along with one or more of the subjects I propose, I’d love to hear your songs.
