ASHFORD MINING CAMP

We visited the Ashford Mining Camp during the spring of 2005. It was perfect weather and the wildflowers were everywhere. The short hike to the mine was spent mostly ribbing Lewis - "How much farther? He knew he had to stock up on the candy before a hike with us! This mining camp is one of my favorites located in Death Valley, its well preserved and very picturesque. Thanks Lewis for sharing this site with us!

Deerlodge is a privately owned ranch that dates back to the late 1890s. The wonderful cabins are set in a very beautiful location, its easy to see why the area was first settled. The Hackett family cemetery is located about 1/4 mile away from the cabins. The headstones tell a sad story of two sons dying within days of each other during World War II.
