CuppaArt: NESCBWI conference 2015
http://cuppaart.blogspot.com/2015/05/nescbwi-conference-2015.html
A caffeine-fueled blog about my journey into illustrating, writing and kids books in general. Tuesday, May 5, 2015. So much to say, where to begin? I had a great time at the conference this year, learning new things, meeting new people, seeing familiar faces and great artwork. This time around, I took workshops in both illustration and writing for picture books. It made for a more well-rounded experience for me. Also, I got to hear about the creation of I Don't Like Koala. Alien and pet character study.

A caffeine-fueled blog about my journey into illustrating, writing and kids books in general. Wednesday, December 11, 2013. PiBoIdMo 2013: Mission Accomplished. I finished PiboIdMo 2013! Not so much for Miss Lack-of-Attention-Span/Don't-I-Have Laundry-to-Attend-to? I usually have little problem coming up with ideas (some wobbly as mentioned), but fleshing them out, that's what separates the men from the boys or the senoras from the senoritas. Something like that. Doodle of the day: leaning brain.

CuppaArt: Maira Kalman and Mary Blair

A caffeine-fueled blog about my journey into illustrating, writing and kids books in general. Sunday, March 2, 2014. Maira Kalman and Mary Blair. I recently read “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Everything” by Maira Kalman. It’s basically a short picture book biography of Thomas Jefferson, but with Maira’s. Wonderful paintings and focus on unique details. This made me wonder, what else has Maira been up to? Anyway, her artwork has, for me, now reached an amazing level! But alas, dear Sherlock, they're n...

Childrens Book Illustration Portfolio. Saturday, November 19, 2011. Update on NaNoWriMo and PiBoIdMo. I find that November always seems to be one of my busiest times of the year. In the past I've done the NaNoWriMo and although I didn't quite make it to the 50,000 words, I did fairly well. This year I added the Picture Book Idea Month which challenges participants to come up with one idea per day for a picture book. As of today, my totals are:. PiBoIdMo - 19 ideas - right on track! And thank you for your friendship. Peace to all who read this from our Lord Jesus Christ. See you in South Africa! I want you all to...
