CHINESE HOME CHEF: 2009-12-06
http://chinesehomechef.blogspot.com/2009_12_06_archive.html
A Blog about Chinese home cooking, food nutrition, recipes, desserts and more. Posted by Alice S Kay. I bought some roast pork from the wet market as I was craving for it. In western countries, roast pork is usually eaten with apple sauce and rosemary. The Chinese normally have their roast pork with white rice together with other dishes. To make the roast pork fragrant with that extra flavour, sauteed it with garlic, soya sauce and oyster sauce. It really makes a difference to the tastebuds!

CHINESE HOME CHEF: Stir Fried Asparagus
http://chinesehomechef.blogspot.com/2010/03/stir-fried-asparagus.html
A Blog about Chinese home cooking, food nutrition, recipes, desserts and more. Posted by Alice S Kay. A few days ago I ate this delicious salad with asparagus as the main ingredient and I have been craving for more of this vegetable because I love the crunchy texture. So I decided to cook it Chinese style instead just to have a go at a different taste. You can get this at any convenience store, it blends it very well with garlic. 1 clove of garlic, diced. 1 small red onion, cut into fine slices. 18 Octob...

A Blog about Chinese home cooking, food nutrition, recipes, desserts and more. Home Made Chicken Soup. Posted by Alice S Kay. We usually have soup for dinner at least once a week. Soup is good to replenish the fluids and re-energize the body. If boiled with chicken or pork, the essence will be infused into the soup and you get all the goodness, sometimes even better than eating the meat on its own. That's because the sweetness of the meat is all contained in the soup. Anyway, here's my recipe. Today I th...

Friday, October 30, 2009. I am always on the look out for good Asam Laksa and fortunately in Malaysia, there are no short of restaurants or hawker centers that offers a variety of tasty and unique blends, some with slightly different ratios of sourness and spiciness. If you like to give it a try, you can find the stall at these coordinates in google maps: 3.082721,101.737056. Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Although technically located in Pahang, the place is rather near to KL, about 30-40 km from where I l...

Pheeb's Pillow: January 2010

Saturday, January 23, 2010. Pan Mee (direct translation: plank noodles) is a kind of noodle where you use flour and water (instead of eggs) to make the dough. For the soup, which I cooked the noodles in, the ingredients are pretty simple: dried anchovies, ginger, salt, pepper and green leafy veges, preferably sauropus aka sweet leaf bush. I made this the other day and I loved it! I didn't have any sauropus, I substituted it with choy sum. Hand-made noodles, literally. Friday, January 8, 2010. Subscribe t...

Pheeb's Pillow: September 2010

Sunday, September 26, 2010. Me and my sisters made dumplings the other day. We are not experts in this field since we rarely make this but it was a good try. I wasn't involved in making the fillings for the dumplings, which is the most important part of the whole process but I did help in wrapping them. The easiest shape to do, and I did the most of them. Don't get too greedy with the fillings, otherwise, they are going to burst open! We steamed this, unlike the other two above, which we fried. I have be...
