While our building is only 2000 square feet in size, it's full of books, journals, lights, soaps, bookmarks and other merchandise. We have a large selection of Melissa and Doug toys for children. We also carry puzzles, games, workbooks, and other activities. Since Lexington is home to a Civil War battlefield, we carry many books about history; we have some titles you will not find in the big box stores. We can special order just about anything and have it for you in a few days. Books will live on!

Our Building

The building is a shotgun style, i.e. it is very narrow relative to its width. In fact, our store is only 20 feet wide! The reason for the odd proportions is simple: Taxes. Taxes on commercial property used to be based on frontage therefore the narrower the storefront, the less one was taxed! Otto and Leo continued the grocery business, and Joseph J.
