Encaustic paintings are made with beeswax to which pigment has been added. They were created hundreds of years ago in Greece and in mummy portraits in Egypt. I use a variety of tools in creating mine, and love the glow that I can get using bright colors. It can be very challenging manoeuvring the wax. I find watercolor to be a fascinating medium! It can range from soft and subdued to bright and bold! Robber's Passage, Alberni Inlet, Vancouver Island.

Deanna was born and raised in rural Alberta and taught school for many years after obtaining her BEd Degree. She has always enjoyed many hobbies, and has been passionate about both painting and quilting. She began painting in oils, and many years later switched to watercolors. Still later on, she added encaustic paintings to her endeavors as well.

Deanna's paintings are featured in Chameleons Osteria, a restaurant at 220 W. Island Hwy, Parksville. Ph 250-586-5500. Saturday November 7th, and Sunday November 8th, 2015. Gallery Open 1pm - 5 pm. Please stop by and view the gallery while enjoying a refreshment. The Display and Sale includes a wide variety of water colors, encaustics, original art quilts, and small gift items.
