Make me down a pallet on the floor. December 3, 2015. December 3, 2015. After closing in the hull we’ve moved on to the cockpit work for the winter. For over a year the only surfaces to step on when entering the boat have been frames and floor timbers in a careful hop scotch down to the cabin sole. So each new piece of cockpit framing is an exciting change. For the sole we laid to layers of half inch marine plywood from a fortunate dumpster dive with epoxy in between and fiberglass on top. To the Bridgedeck and Beyond…. January 28, 2017. Shout out to little Finley/Buzz Lightyear as soon as you are old enough to read). The gaping cabin hole is slowly closing in! I boarded up the cockpit benches with oak boards. Just a single seam with a plywood spline was enough. Then in order to install hinged bench tops I first laid trim around the perimeter.
