Chris and Rita head west. Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Krispin flew in from LA to Colorado Springs airport late (near midnight) on Christmas Eve. Our friends Dom and Wendy invited us on the spur of the moment to join them for their Xmas dinner along with their son Andrew who had flown in from Annapolis where he attends the Naval Academy. Chris and Rita head west. Thursday, July 5, 2012. Chris decided that we would build our own stone wall for phase 2 of the wall project ( no hired mason). Millions of pounds of stones were delivered on pallets just like for phase 1. The stones looked thoroughly daunting sitting there waiting to be placed. Project is building a new home for ourselves just west of a lovely mountain town in Colorado called Salida. We've found a 35 acre piece of land at 8500 feet that feels just right. It's at the bitter end of a county road and then another mile and a half of dusty trail. Perfect! We became acquainted with Salida over a period of years when it was a favorite lunch stop during the Colorado Grand. A terrific four day vintage car rally.
