http://blog.devshirme.com/2014/12/day-32-safety
Our next assignment is safety. Fr. Peck. Puts it nicely – it is good but can be overdone. Safety is important but, to quote John G. Shedd, “A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” Fair enough. Some thoughts on safety:. My work background is in law so my default is always liability, liability, liability. That being said, I never thought about safety much until we had children – then it becomes an obsession. This seems off-topic but…get a receipt. When you buy gas for the car.

One of my first internet adventures (probably around 1993) was to find and print out a picture of H. P. Lovecraft’s grave in Providence. The printout is long gone, but I can still picture the graininess and remember how long it took to print. Now I live 45 minutes away from his burial spot and am long overdue for a visit (and really a pilgrimage to various HPL sites). Go to post page. December 20th, 2014 by Fr. Greg. Today’s assignment – hot cocoa. 8211; is something I almost never have, although the Black Friday rugby that I blogged about did feature hot cocoa at the half to fortify us (and yes, it does taste even better with rum, as we discovered). Fr. Peck does say that hot drinks like cocoa help get us psyched up for Christmas, and he is right – I just prefer tea. Yup, He’s Orthodox. Today is St. Patrick’s Day – a huge secular feast day in America, and one that has huge religious roots. It is seen as an Irish-based holiday, and indeed most all of the people I encountered today here in the heart of Massachusetts had green on (and I was on pinch patrol). On Facebook today someone posted an article entitled “YES he’s Orthodox and NO he’s not Irish! 8221; Well, yes on the first. Go to post page. March 17th, 2016 by Fr. Greg. One of my favorite topics! Kicked off this year’s series, and it was awesome. Miriam made pumpkin kibbeh, a vegan variation on the traditional meat dish. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the food – pictures will soon be up on the church website. A nice bonus was having Miriam’s mother Edna on board to help out. Edna and I are both from the same hometown, so we enjoyed reminiscing. The recipe is below. If you wish to make it gluten or grain-free, you can substitute quinoa for the bulgur. 15 cups fine bulghur. 1t salt X 2.

The Genocide Of The Ottoman Greeks. Check out this new book her. On February 28, 2012 Aristide D. Caratzas is publishing “The Genocide of the Ottoman Greeks,” a collective work by nineteen distinguished international scholars, which addresses one of the lesser known aspects of the extermination of the Ottoman Christians, namely that of the Greeks, and provides a number of approaches for the study of this event.
