My quest to run a 160km ultra marathon…. August 11, 2011. After reading Born to Run by Cristopher McDougall. I got inspired by the natural energy drink of the Tarahumara, the Iskiate or Chia Fresca. In the book, it describes chia* as “superpacked with omega-3’s, omega-6s, protein, calcium, iron, zinc, fiber, and antioxidants.” It also tells of instant energy the drink can bring. Sounds better than Gatorade or Hammer Gel don’t you think? I searched the internet for some basic recipe and I found this.
