Richard Knowlton

Infrequent ramblings of a Victoria based triathlete. Monday, January 18, 2010. You know that your race just isn't going well when you are forced to slow down because of dry heaves. I thought that I was in better shape this year, but I blew up worse than I did last year. The time didn't show it, but I certainly felt it. And for the last 4 km I was running with people that are normally minutes behind me. I think the following pictures do a good job of showing how I was feeling durring the race. I had been ...

Richard Knowlton: RVM

http://www.roadtoworlds2009.blogspot.com/2009/10/rvm.html

Infrequent ramblings of a Victoria based triathlete. Monday, October 12, 2009. All I can say is I'm glad that I didn't know yesterday that I was going to feel like this today. As I said earlier, I finished in 1:22:53, placing me 38th OA and 11th AG. I couldn't believe it when I saw that. I placed well, had a great race, but my age group was rediculous. In order for me to have taken a 5th AG (to be called up on stage) I would have had to have done 1:11:30. October 28, 2009 at 11:01 PM. Victoria, BC, Canada.

It was a great race, and I am very pleased with the result which was a PB by almost 45 seconds (despite not beating Mike [Great race Mike if you're reading this! Richard Knowlton: Beer Mile

Infrequent ramblings of a Victoria based triathlete. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. I was hesitant to even post this. however, I remind myself that not all races can be stellar performances. And this race was about as far from stellar as one can get. I had no intentions of doing this race again, but with such a slow time I feel as if I need to redeem myself. Next year I will not use warm beer (I also will not use lighthouse lager). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Victoria, BC, Canada.

Infrequent ramblings of a Victoria based triathlete. Sunday, August 9, 2009. There is only a month to go before I fly out of Victoria and only a week after that until World Championships. Am I ready? I need to get faster and this post is a reminder that Worlds is fast aproaching. Tuesday, August 4, 2009. I wanted to finish this race in less than 2 hours 10 min. New for this race:. I never felt great on the run. I don't think that I ever got up to speed, however with that being said, I don't think tha...

Mj's Tri Blog: Some consistency

http://mjtriblog.blogspot.com/2010/01/some-consistency.html

Workouts and Race Reports of a Triathlete in Victoria. Monday, January 4, 2010. Since I received a gym pass for my birthday, I have been able to get in the gym quite a bit lately. It is really nice to be able to work on my core and upper body, which lacked in strength last year. I am now working out at least once a day, and eating well again. Helps you get in shape, but I'm just not ready, and mentally no good can come from it. I might volunteer at it though. That's all for now. A Really Good Blog.

Workouts and Race Reports of a Triathlete in Victoria. Sunday, March 21, 2010. It's Been a While! Wow it has got to be at least a month since my last post. Here is an update on what is going on with my training/life right now. My new job is fantastic! I work with great people and being a "banker" is a pretty entertaining profession right now. I just nailed a presentation on the economic forecasts of the main economies HSBC invests in, and I love the people I work with. That being said, I have been enjoyi...

Workouts and Race Reports of a Triathlete in Victoria. Friday, November 27, 2009. Getting my sh*t together. Well I have been home for two weeks already! I am finally getting used to the ridiculous. Weather that we have here on the west coast. I think it was amazing timing that I came home and had 12 days straight of rain. How much you get used to the sun when you are out of this climate. http://mjtriblog.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Workouts and Race Reports of a Triathlete in Victoria. Saturday, October 24, 2009. I've had a lot of time to think about my tri season this year, that had as many firsts and pbs as dissapointments. After the worlds I kind of just put off thinking about the season. However, I have had ample time to look back on the season that was, and see what I did well and didn't. However I think I went against one of the main principles in endurance sport training, the cycle. All summer I didn't do the long endurance ...

Workouts and Race Reports of a Triathlete in Victoria. Wednesday, December 2, 2009. This is the first time I have ever been out of shape, in the sense that I am not physically where I am mentally. Mentally I think I should be able to lead the two groups that I run with (when there aren't Kenyans or Pros), but physically it is a different story. This is why other pro athletes don't join their teams after injuries. They take really small steps and enjoy the progress. December 2, 2009 at 8:05 PM. Post-Reces...

Workouts and Race Reports of a Triathlete in Victoria. Wednesday, November 4, 2009. My New Favourite Run. Well folks I have not run that much in the last two months. I haven't swam too much either. My first ride in two months was today, when I rode a rented bike for 1.5 km to the beach. It was actually pretty scary. The front wheel didn't even look like it was connected to the bike. I would guess the bike age at at least 15 years old. Before I go I want to say good luck to Sam at Clearwater! Road to Worl...
