Roadtrip

Sunday, August 07, 2005. Sunday morning after the trip. The Amarillo to Dallas leg of the trip was conducted mainly in silence. The usual joking, laughing, and ribbing gave way to us being in our own world and our thoughts to ourselves. Or we were just tired and played out. It rained a lot on this leg, which enhanced the somber mood. Note the lightning, hard to do that kind of photo during daylight. There's a reason that most lightning photos are done at night! And yes, this was during the day). Friday m...

Roadtrip: Photo day

http://www.roadtripnm.blogspot.com/2005/08/photo-day.html

Monday, August 01, 2005. Since I found a card reader, I'll post some of my photos that should have belonged to the previous posts. Then I'll post events and photos to bring us current. Owl bar, 2nd home of A-bomb. Inside Owl Bar, lots of law enforcement badges from all over the country for some reason. Dave and friend at the Crash In diner. Motoring back from VLA. We motored on to Santa Fe, some 60 miles away. There was a large festival going on at the main square. Street scene at festival. We broke camp...

Roadtrip: 10, 9, ...Blastoff!

http://www.roadtripnm.blogspot.com/2005/07/10-9-blastoff.html

Saturday, July 30, 2005. 10, 9, .Blastoff! Well we got to take off about 2 hours ahead of schedule. Bit of a short fuse. Dave G. woke up at 3am, took some relatives to DFW, then swung by my place. After a groggy phone call where he stated he was in my parking lot 2 hours early, I scrambled to get ready. Packed his car with a combination of camping gear and golf equipment. We won't be at a loss for things to do on this trip. Typical New Mexico sky. I inquired about the La Caverna Hotel. That's the hot...

Roadtrip: Roadtrip!

http://www.roadtripnm.blogspot.com/2005/07/roadtrip.html

Tuesday, July 26, 2005. I've created this blog so family and friends can hop aboard virtually and "go along for the ride". This road trip, while planned with Microsoft's Streets and Trips, is very much a wake up and "where are we going today? I will try my best to update as often as possible, but no promises. Blastoff is Friday, June 29 at approximately 9 am. Posted by Trip Master @ 8:27 AM.

Three on a match. Saturday, July 19, 2008. Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley. We made a late afternoon trip to Antelope Canyon. The sandy drive to the entrance of the canyon. The entrance of the canyon. We were burning daylight fast and it was a race between us and the sun to see if we would have light to photograph John Ford's favorite western movie setting, Monument Valley. Forest Gump stopped running at this spot. A midget among giants. Posted by Trip Master. Thursday, July 17, 2008. We took a quick...

http://roadtripredux.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 30, 2006. Rainy days and Sundays. Got a little down the road and we both decided a combat nap was needed, so we found the next rest stop and got some much needed shut eye for about an hour. Hit the road and stopped in Gallop for a brief visit to the El Rancho Motel, a historic landmark. It's located on a strip of the old Route 66 along with other smaller motels and lodges advertising "steam heat" in neon. Exterior view of the landmark. I’ve never seen the desert so green in all my visits here...
