And We’re Off! We eventually headed back to the hostel and started talking with other people staying there. I’ve learned that typical conversations go – what’s your name, where are you from, where are you going and how long do you have to travel? From these conversations we learned that we have to go to Lanquin, stay at a hostel called Zephyr and see Semuc Chempey. Ok, will do! Flores, Guatemala was our next stop. The main draw to this area is the Tikal, the Mayan temple ruins in this area, which is about an hour away. We took the 5am tour to try and see the sunrise at the temples, but the sun was well up before we even got to the park gates. Toward the end of the guided portion, our guide found a tarantula and offered people to hold it. Surprisingly, a large amount of people did. I decided to join in the fun. Laquo; Back to Posts.
