The Roanoke Chapter NRHS has preserved a large amount of material and documentation relating to the N&W, Virginian and other railroads. Hile we feel this is an important aspect of our organization, we also realize our limitations of space and personnel, and the overall need to best serve the material, and make it available to researchers and others. 7/7/12 - Chesapeake Western 662 Restored. The restoration of Baldwin diesel no. 662 has been completed by the Roanoke Chapter, NRHS. The locomotive was delivered to her new home at the Virginia Museum of Transportation on July 5th, with an unveiling and dedication ceremony on the 7th. Although she was not restored to operation, the engine received a very thorough cosmetic restoration and looks absolutely stunning. Congrats to the Roanoke Chapter for a job well done!
