January's not so bad. Before you get all down on what you think is the worst month of the year, imagine gliding down a snowy mountain, drinking tons of hot chocolate, and swimming in a steamy pool. sounds good! New years day, my parents took robert and i out for a hike at silver falls state park, oregon. robert, being the teacher that he is, gave us an assignment to write haikus as we walked. i guess he thought we were having too much fun, or something. Has farther to fall than us.

We regularly have both in use. 8 c of flakes (your choice of rolled oats, barley, rye, tritcale etc). 1 1/2 c chopped nuts (our first choice is pecans, almonds are second). 1 c dessicated unsweetened coconut. 1 c hulled pumpkin seeds. 2 t ground cinnamon. 1/4 c oil (sunflower or other light oil). 1/2 c local honey. Rob and I didn't know it was a holiday - but once everything we saw was closed, and we realized it was the first of May, it all made sense :) We ended up in downtown Amberg and saw some pretty neat stuff! Click on pictures for full size - there is a lot of detail.). Fountain of Jesters in the Square. Building on the square with all flags flying!
