Thursday, December 25, 2008. Since there was such a universal positive response to my choice in winter solstice music, I thought I would post a little holiday tune. It is another power trio, shot in all black-and-white, in a winter-themed video. These guys are from even farther north than Celtic Frost. It is less than three minutes of your life. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a pumpkin pie and Alka Seltzer smoothie. Posted by The King of Uncool. Links to this post. Monday, December 22, 2008. The cons...

Sunday, August 9, 2009. The Heirloom and the Volunteer. Of course gardeners use the word. To refer to the old varieties that have built up natural defenses to pests and diseases. The exact meaning of what constitutes an "Heirloom Variety" is imprecise, but it is generally agreed that the cultivar. I had a volunteer in my garden this year. A marigold:. I had moved a planting bed from one part of my yard to another last year, and these came up where the old bed had been. I was on the web looking at tourist...

Who had been there? They Might Be Giants. "Ana Ng,". I am adopted, and so is my sister, Sheree. If you know either of us, you probably already knew that we are adopted, or guessed it. I resemble the world's largest leprechaun;. Sheree looks like a bit player on. I'm OK, You're OK. Adopted, and so is. If you were o...

Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Was conceived in 1967: so was I. The first song in that show "Aquarius" tells of changing times, the beginning of a new epoch. Damn dirty hippies. Today, Barack Obama became President, after campaigning under a call for changing times, for the beginning of a new epoch. January 20 is also the first day of the astrological sign Aquarius. Is this the dawning of our own Age of Aquarius? Posted by The King of Uncool. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 169; 2008 - NOW.

It was a paraphrase of the climactic line from the 1989 Ron Howard movie. Written by the powerhouse screenwriting duo of Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel. Here's the line, and the exchange leading up to it - at least, according to IMDB. GIL has been complaining about his complicated life; GRANDMA wanders into the room]. GIL: What a great story. Thursday, October 30, 2008. The Credible Shrinking Man. If you know me, you know that for a while now I have been fat. In my skin-tight, 2XL navy blue work uniform, I have been mistaken for Violet Beauregard, and the Oompa. Have tried to roll me to the juicing room more than once (I really do chew gum constantly). This was me the week before Halloween 2007:. It would be convenient for me to say that emotional eating took over my life when Mom died last July; by that point, however, I was already superfat.
